gngillespie
I've had to change 3 of my tyres as they've gone "egg-shaped" (?"pear-shaped"??!) and are causing a faint vibration, mind you, thought it was bearings, so that's a relief! Not particularly worn, mind u... I have standard 8jx18 Avus alloys, with the 245/45s on them, and was wondering if the problem could be prevented from happening again with extra load tyres... don't know what pro's and cons are, although i'm sure a harsher ride with XLs should the S8 NEED XLs??? cheers GNG

gngillespie
PS are the quad's on yet? If I manage to rustle up some readies will need to get some!
rob77
ive always ran goodyears and pirelli rubber, when changing tyres on your S8 you must change all four tyres together so the wear rate is the same and every 1k i change the rears to the front due to the wait of the engine causing extra wear,if the tread wear is different and uneven it can cause diff problems because the wheels are not rotating at the same speed.the quads are done ive posted some pics thanks
grdunn123
I'd go for something like Dunlop Sport Maxx or bridgestone Potenza or if you can stretch to Michelins go for them!Firestones tend to be a softer compound which don't last as long....do you tend to get the pedal to the metal regular? gngillespie
pedal to metal?... not VERY often was looking at potenza 050s, sport maxxx's or pZero's, but still unsure of whether to XL or not Still, while i'm waiting to decide..... grdunn123
what sort of mileage did you get from your last set of tyres? Decent ones with correct geometry set up and a fairly steady driving style should be good for 12k anyway.
Quattrophenia
Yeah - go along with that - perhaps a little more.
gngillespie
much less than that - the tyres are not really worn, but when put up on a ramp, were seen to be out of shape... Hmmm, will get a 2nd opinion (well, 5th opinion!) but will prob put some... er... less budget rubber on soon anyway!
showtime
i put 4 contisportcontact3's on mine for the MOT last year & they've been pretty good so far i fitted the XL rated tyres fair bit quieter than the Pirellis i had on there before & seem to have been pretty solid in a couple of situations that looked like i'd be aquaplaning when it rains it rains edited for typo
