PeeJay
Hi all, Wonder if anyone can help me...The last couple of mornings I've started my drive to work, but before I can back out of the drive the engine coolant warning light has started flashing after the beep of death. Following the manual, I turn off the engine, check the coolant level, which is bang on the max. line, and try again. So far it hasn't come back on again. Just wondered if anyone has got any ideas on what I else I could check for before I take it into the garage to get it looked at? Thanks in advance. philippe
Had this once doing 220 km/h Auf die Deutsche Autobahn. The problem was a broken waterpump. Have a nice weekend!
Booster
PeeJay, I've had the same problem. It was the sensor in the header tank. Audi replaced the sensor but I think they also had to replace the header tank. Hope you're under warranty. Andy
Mollox
Its happened to me twice in 2 and a bit years in the S3. I've found in the past that a lot of pressure can build up in the header tank so I just opened it, released the pressure and it went away. Oh yeah and i think i might have put some water in at the same time which clearly helped!
IanC
Spooooky, I've had the exact same problem the last few days First thing in the morning, from a cold cold start. A few secs after starting the engine, warning lamp comes on. If I turn the engine off, wait a few secs and then turn back on it is fine, or leave running for approx a minute and the warning lamp goes off. Coolant level is fine. Guess the colder weather has something to do with it I'm booked into the dealer at the end of the week. When I phoned they said that this was due to a faulty sensor and tank. A common fault in TT/S3's they said. Anyhow will get it fixed under warranty Seems I always pick up the common faults. Had all the coil packs replaced after 2 failed 6 weeks apart, and needed a new alarm horn after the alarm started playing up. Are there any other comman faults in the S3 that I should expect to get? I can then aim to get them before the warranty runs out. It's a MY 2001 S3 btw.
JayBeeS3
well had it also a week ago. went to the dealers and told them what happened. They filled the washer tank instead and when I told them that THAT wasnt the prob, they filled some cooler stuff in the tank for cooling. Didnt see the warning back tho. They also didnt see anything logged in the car. So hopefully nothing serious.
