Muppetboy
For the last few days my computer keeps losing connection to my wireless linksys router WRT54GS which I've had installed for about a month now (I changed from BT to Telewest cable). Everything has been working fine up until Saturday but now it just randomly loses connection to the router... it disappears from the "available networks" list completely, although I can see all of the neighbours connections (all require a key! ) I haven't changed any settings, installed software etc (although NOD 32 updates daily) so can't think what it might be. My computer is a Sony VAIO A115Z, router is Linksys WRT54GS. Any ideas chaps?
lottiefox
I had a similar problem with my Linksys router a while ago - called their helpline and the guy uploaded some new firmware to the router and bingo it worked. Their helpline is definitely one of the better ones, might be worth a try.
shark_90
It's probable that your neighbours wireless router is using the same wireless channel as yours, or one close to yours. In the setup of your router, try changing the wireless channel to something else (many routers come preconfigured as channel 6) and if it is interference then it should stop
Sparky
I'd try what Shark mentioned first. All my routers have come set to channel 13, and the first thing I do is to change it to another channel.
Muppetboy
Thanks chaps, I've changed from channel 11 to channel 1, I'll see how this goes! Cheers
Muppetboy
Lottie, I've also used Linksys support before with my previous ADSL modem and I agree the support is the best I've ever used!
Muppetboy
Changing the channel seems to have worked as I haven't lost connection once since... Cheers guys
