Brabus
Chaps, Asked to have my oil changed in my Golf V TDi 140 (longlife). Went to the garage and paid for the labour, filter and four litres of longlife. Everything fine I supposed. Drove the car home and parked it, about 10 mins. Next morning my I decided to check the oil and lo and behold it is actually very dark, black infact. My question is, shouldn't the oil be clear? Or is the oil in diesel cars darker? Would it go from clear to black in the short drive home?? I feel like they haven't chaged the oil at all and I've been ripped off
Rustynuts
It'll go black as soon as it gets inside the engine. Nothing to worry about, mate. It's all to do with the soot that the oil has to cope with. You can never get all the old oil and contaminants out of the engine, and it'll mix with the new stuff and go black as soon as you start the engine. Just shows that the oil is doing its job and holding on to the soot.
