I have been thinking of buying "Cataclean" and I am still undecided. Saw an interesting article on "Cataclean" which may be of help to others. Check it out at www.bonav.net

I purchased Cataclean and chuck it into my wife Audi A4. We did not see any difference at first so after month put some more in, the car then started to become sluggish. Did some research on the web and came across this so BEWARE the British advertising company tested the product

Best Direct also typed in the guy who ownes Cataclean Ross Baigent who is a director and he has ties to Tim Johnston who did a fuel additive scam in NZ and Australia – Wasted my money on a Scam – the British Advertising Boards findings

The ASA considered that the claims were misleading.

3. Upheld

The expert considered that using a vehicle with a known and apparently unquantified problem was bad practice. The results showed that Cataclean had no beneficial effect on emissions. The expert noted the evidence did not repeat the decreases in emissions that were demonstrated in the infomercial. We considered that the claims were misleading.

5. Upheld

The expert advised that catalyst efficiency was established by analysing the exhaust gases entering and exiting the catalyst. He noted the submitted tests did not use that method. The expert advised that the product was extremely unlikely to survive the combustion process and reach the exhaust catalyst. We considered that the claim was misleading.

Action

We concluded that the infomercial breached rules 5.1 (Misleading advertising), 5.2.1 (Evidence), 5.4.4 (Testimonials) and 5.2.6 (Environmental claims) of the CAP (Broadcast) TV Advertising Standards Code and it must not be advertised again without adequate substantiation for each claim it made.

OK me I used this stuff. Tried all the other injector cleaners blah blah blah usually to find no difference, But honestly ( i know you will all laugh) but this stuff actually worked. There was a noticeable difference in the way my car ran, the fuel economy was vastly improved and the car ran a great deal smoother. I drive my cars hard and fast and so there should be very little build up to start with but this did make an improvement. So maybe not all bad news. Just thot i would mention it incase it helps someone

Ok where to start....

Firstly I am the sales director of Cataclean.

Secondly. Ross Baigent is my business partner and had nothing to do with the firepower scam. There was a book written on it, contact the author if you are unsure, I did before I bought shares in the business. He has never even heard of Ross and at no time did RB's name come up in the research of the book. We are in the process of tracking down and prosecuting any and all posters of these malicious blogs. They began circulating within 24 hrs of us turning down an offer to sell the company to a very large US company who you all will have heard of....... coincidence eh

Thirdly....it works. go to and read the independent tests. The product cleans the entire engine, not just the cat. You will feel the difference, especially on diesels and vehicles with turbos. No other product on the market is proven to work. I don't just mean anecdotal nonsense ("I tried it in my wifes car and it's great") I mean scientific proof!

We have spent in excess of £500k proving that the product works with Petronas and NAC (Owners of MG Rover). We are fully approved as a carbon footprint reducer

Contact me on [email protected] if you need any help.

Al

Um I was going to dump a bottle of this stuff in the Tank of my R32 to help a blocked Lambda senor ? VW cleared the emisions fault light on the last service, but bear in mind the light has been on for 2 years, since then the Golf gets thrashed the feck out of so would I be wasting £15 ?????

CATACLEAN GLOBAL LIMITED, Company Number 03969268 shows as currently non-trading at Companies House although maybe is just starting up again ?

The company has traded for 15 yrs as System Products UK. Cataclean Global is there to push international sales. The stuff works, end of. Go on the website, check the testing, try it.

Replace the sensor? Ok, and then do it again next year when it's MOT time?

Treat the symptom, not the cure. If you don't want to use Cataclean then try using good fuel and always get the car up to temperature i.e. no stop start journeys or journeys of less than 10 miles.

The llamda is dirty because the engine is running inefficiently. The product remains active post combustion, don't ask me how, but it does. Like I keep saying we can prove all our claims, here is an invite to sue us if you think I'm wrong......go for it!

The stuff works, end of.

But then you would say that wouldn't you?

We want to know how it works, and why we should use it, when our vehicles operation manuals expressly forbid the use of additives.

And if it does work, why isn't it mixed with fuel as a matter of course, by the big fuel suppliers who also claim there fuels clean your engine?

I should add, I'm not saying it doesn't work, I'm just sceptical, and can't be arsed to look at the web site from my phone.

I myself have done some reasearch, i managed to find out that it was not catacleans fault, yes the above statements are 100% true, but it was the advertising channel best direct's fault there was not much detail, but the asa say it was the way the product was described by the host of best direct not cataclean itself

Wow that some research. I'm glad youve clarified for us that Cataclean were incompetent enough not to provide scripts for the company advertising their products or carry out any due dilligence when promoting their products to ensure it was done accurately. Does that level of attention to detail also transfer into their product development as well?
