Loudspeaker System v's Logic 7

I am no audiophile, but do like a decent sound in my car. On the rare occasion that I would prefer to listen the The Kooks rather than the twin turbo straight 6, what would you recommend & why?

For £400 I would expect the Hifi Loudspeaker system to meet my requirements, or is the Logic 7 an absolute must for the extra £400 on top of the loudspeaker upgrade?

I would either stick with the stock system or get the Logic7.

The Logic 7 system is the best in car system I have heard, it is very smooth, very warm, loads of detail and superb bass weight for a stock system.

I would guess you need to spend £1500-3000 to beat it using aftermarket kit.

I have bought the following...

Genesis Profile 4 Ultra £399

Genesis Line converter £45

Cables £50

Diamond Audio M6 speakers £340

and I am deciding what subs to put under the seats, or what will fit in the stock locations, for now it is looking like either the subs from the L7 system at £400, or 2 x Morel shallow mounts for £700.

But it isn't cheap and won't be a great deal better than the L7 system.

The hi-fi system is OK, but not great, not warm enough, starts to get a bit shrill when you turn it up and the bass is a little lacking.

The L7 all the way for me, first system I have had and not felt the need to upgrasde (we have it in the 120d). 169144-ok.gif

Hello Guy I am having the same Dilema. Once purchased I will not want to upgrade, and on my spec I put the Hi-fi loudspeaker system, as I wanted something better than stock, but didnt want to pay £800.

I see this system has subs and I feel it would be adequate for my needs.

Comments appreciated

Yeah the Levinson system does shade it, it is a fair but smoother which is where the L7 falls down a bit.

I was wondering if the new sound system in the M3, the expensive one, might be Levinson, after all Levinson is all part of the Harman group who own, Kardon, becker and Lexicon who own L7.

Oli you will not be disapointed with the Logic 7 system mate.

I wouldn't get the hi-fi system, it is not great, and it makes any sort of upgrade very difficult at a later date, you start to get into most bus, so you can't upagrade really.

I would get the basic system and pust an after market amp and speakers in, JL audio 4 channel and some nice front speaker, use the amp to drive the fronts and the subs under the seats, this will cost you around £550 installed and will be very good. Certainly alot better than the hi-fi system anyway.

I have been driving a 335D M sport for approx 150 miles today and it has the Hi Fi Loudpeaker upgrade fitted, sounds ok but not up to the bose system in the a4 I owned in my opinion, I presume that the 5 series I am picking up next week will sound the same then? or are the speakers, etc different?

oops my mistake - Still the Z3M Coupe is lovely, never liked the standard Z3 roadster though.

I get away with the 'sad bastard' comment as its cars that pay the mortgage!!! yelrotflmao.gif

Oh and to end it are you saying just push the boat out and get Logic 7??
