911 seats - dont' fit

I'd previously sold my 987S because I found the optional sports seats uncomfortable for my back. Today I tried a 997 with normal seats and found they have the same problem. The sculpture of the sides of the seat back was fine but the width of the seat back is too narrow for me so I am on the seat rather than in it. I'm reasonably broad shouldered but have owned a few sports cars which don't have this problem. The Cayenne was fine FWIW!

Any thoughts from anyone?

go on a diet fatty

but seriously Porsche seats are pretty crap IMO, 986/996 particularly so, none are wide enough at the shoulder

presumably the are modelled on Herr Rohrl who is as fat a pipe cleaner

the sports seats should keep the width of the flat back / seat panels the same but increase the side extension walls to clamp you in - instead Porsche seem to curve the sides forward so it rounds your shoulders and pushes them forward.

Sit in the Recaro buckets in an RS4 to see how a proper sports seat should be comfortable but clamp you in

My problem (only one?) is that I am broad in the shoulders so the Porsche seats are useless. The Recaros in my B6 S4 Avant (outstanding seats) and the seats in my new TTR2 are both excellent and show that Audi understands that the backrest flat section needs to be reasonably wide.

Perhaps Porsches' are too narrow inside to fit seats this wide?

The one thing I wasn't keen on with the recaros was the lack of bolster support, I felt it could have really done with an adjustments to keep you in place.

Mind you going from the CSL straight to it probably made it seem worse than it really was, the CSL is really, really narrow at the shoulders.

Porsche fit buckets with massive shoulder support into the GT2 and GT3 so there must be enough room.

I didn't really like the comfort seats in my Boxster, but have the sports seats in the 996 which are better.

I don't really get the seat shapes either smashfreakB.gif

Have you tried the Adaptive Sports seats yet ??

Mine are supremely comfortable and supportive.
