I decided it best to keep the plastic silver OEM strip intact rather than remove the silver & black VW logo and stick it onto the carbonfibre. Snoopy Posted May 26, 2007 Report Share Posted May 26, 2007 The GTI badge American ones seem to have been red on some of theres from new on the mk1. As far as i know all europe got the crome badges from the start. On the VW badge. All were crome except the GTI it got a black one and until the mk3 GTI it was always black on the front (crome on the back from mid 80s mk2s on). Red was a common thing to paint it especially on a red car. On the back GTI badge It was always crome until the mk4 golf GTI when VW decided that different colour letters would define what power it had.
