cjallaway83
Hey all, Hoping someone could help me out. I had a puncture on my front drivers side tyre which ive had to have replaced. I only had that one changed and not the front passengers side as well. The guy said to check with VW (which i doubt would know) how much difference in wear between the tyres before I should change both so it doesnt damage the transmission? He measured it, the passengers side is down to 6mm and the new is at 8mm obviously. Ive done 5300 miles since i got the car. Anyone tell me if I need to change the passengers side or will everything be ok? If not, what should be the limit of difference in tread before I change both sides? Cheers guys. Mook
With a 2mm difference, you should be fine, but you'll probably notice a difference under hard braking. If you swap the rear wheels with the fronts, you'll then be running both fronts at the same tread depth. HTH
