Have been looking at picking up a chipped A4 1.8T ECU to go in my A3 1.8T Sport as know of one for a good price. I have been advised that it will fit in as straight swap but I am very dubious!?!

Anyone know if this can be deon as would be a great way of sorting out the chip business as can swap it back for the standard ECU ar any time!

Any ideas?

I'd very much doubt that an A4 ECU of any sort will fit in an A3/S3. If you look at the tuners websites for instance they have seperate code for each model of ECU for each model of car. Where are you getting this from ? one of these back street jobbies ? sekret.gif

Something like that I wouldn't take anyones word for it cos if it fecks you car, whos the one thats gonna pay the bill smirk.gif

Obviously I'm only applying common sense to what your saying, but check with one of the big tuners or your dealer.

Common sense has also been telling me the same as the part numbers for the A3 and A4 are all completely different on ETKA and the ECU differs depending on whether you have drive by wire etc. I am waiting on a reply from Oettinger themselves but thought I would see if anyone else has heard of this before so that I can get a true picture of if this is possible!

This is not from a backstreet dealer at all but being sold privately and the guy reckons that it can fit straight into an A3, A4 or TT!

I agree completely and am dubious but wondered what he based this on as he may know more than I do?

On a different note, my car is going like s**t off a hot shovel since putting in the 2nd tank of Optimax. It really does feel like a different car!!!

If the guy reckons it will fit into a TT he's talking out of his arse Flush.gif

The TT uses DBW, a K04 turbo, ESP, XYZ, etc etc that the A4 possibly doesn't, has a different engine with VVT, is Haldex 4WD....... Although there are different ECU's to control things like Haldex etc, the main ECU must still have to talk to them.

Give up with this one I'm afriad.

Cheers

Already had given up on this as woke up and thought better of it myself after giving it the tiniest bit of thought. Even down to the fact that the alarm is linked to four doors instead of two would make it do different things IMO!?!

Someone had a bargain for it though for £250 on ebay!!! The ECU was worth more than that without the oettinger chip?
