J6ORDS
Just fit my centre armrest! Took a couple of hours because my hands are too big for some of the tricks you need to perform with an allan key but what I bargain it was. Armrest - £20 (breakers jobbie) Re-trim - £10 Bracket - £30 (Vag parts) Guess ive just joined the pipe n slippers brigade lol!

J6ORDS
Cheers guys, I feel it makes driving so much more pleasurable than before (not that it was bad). I don't know how ive coped without it for so long! One question though, does anyone know any prices or part numbers for the cup holder insert? Cheers in advance. r88per
The cup holder insert is about £25 from the dealer, dont know the part number though. I bought one about 2 months ago, just slots straight in no screws or clips.
settle
i've got the cupholder in my armrest, its ok but, but far from great, when you've got a cup in it changing gear is more difficult and the lid has to be up, which can get in the way. Not worth £25 i don't think, paid about £5 for mine, not worth much more
settle
the part no. is 8L0862533A should add that it is good for motorway driving, where you don't have to change gear
J6ORDS
Cheers Settle. I doubt i'll be going to the stealer for it now though, that would end up costing more than the armrest itself! Hopefully i'll find another bargain at one of the breakers yards. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) know if the A3 shares this part with any other model? seadweller
Well done on the install , glad it went well and you are so pleased with the results
seadweller
I would have had an armrest on my S3 if I had spec'ed it myself (if only to put a phone in). The funny thing is that although I have, and use the armrest in our allroad all the time (on the odd occassion it is up, I have to put it down before driving off), I've just realized that I have never once missed not having one in the S3. Thinking about it, it must be because the S3 is a manual but the allroad is auto, I bet if they were both manual or both auto, swopping between cars would highlight the missing armrest and become V annoying? J6ORDS
Thats probably because the S3 is more involving to drive. My guess is that with all of that power under your right foot, and the constant gear changing you'd have probably worn a hole in it anyway! I find it quite difficult changing gear with the armrest fully upright myself, it gets much more comfortable when you drop it down a level. Im starting to feel i've spent enough on her now (getting bored in other words), im going to keep it for the summer then it'll be time to sell up and start looking for my new love. J6ORDS
Definately sticking to Audi. I've been thinking about an A4 cabriolet, probably a 1.8T. Although I am liking the new A3 2.0 Fsi too. Both either avus silver of dolphin grey. If the cabriolet came with a hardtop there'd be no question though.
rom_lesta_a3
my stealers quoted me £18.26 inc vat for a single cup holder. vag parts do doubles for about £28ish sorry dont know any part numbers but stealers found it from the description, or you could make your own using mdf, but i cant be asred. so prob get a double from vag parts. stealers said they can only get singles, and need to order it only if i pay the full ammount first. hth
RichardH
The one and only problem I have experienced when using the armrest in down position is that it is very difficult to get to the handbrake quick and easily !!! Usless you've got rubber wrists !!!!!!
CaTFiSH
i bought vagparts armrest one week ago, i installed it and i'm very happy with it. However, the armrest is not centered, it's nearer the driver seat than the passenger seat... any ideas of what i should change?
J6ORDS
Catfish, I had the same problem when mine first we on. You need to loosen all three bolts and tighten them evenly just as you would when changing a wheel. If you tighten one at a time, the first one will be tighter than the other two and hense the armrest will lean to on side.
