nicks3
Is this a good idea? Will the cars hold their value well bearing in mind the new car comes soon, although not an S3? Would an R32 Golf be a better bet? Bear in mind that that will be out of date too soon. Problem is a chipped S3 has a real character and I'm not sure the new car will have that. Am I better to wait and see what the A3 3.2 Quattro Sport is like? Help please

joeSA
NickS3 , this is a tough one. I personally think that the S3 will hold it's value well, until the new S3 comes out and if there is not a new S3 then the S3 might just become a classic Of course the S3 prices could go to sh%t as soon as the new A3 is released I don't really think anybody will be able to predict this one so if you are looking for another S3 u gonna have to think long and hard about it. Good luck
Brabus
A good idea might be to research how well the old shape S4(265bhp) held its value when the current A4 shape came out. Check what an S4 is worth now and so on. By the way, saw a new shape S4 today and was completely under-whelmed, it looked much too subtle and unfinished. nicks3
Thanks for your advices, much appreciated. Do you think the same thing applies to the R32 also?
gambba
Personally, if I was in the same position I'd be tempted to wait and see what the new Audi holds in store. I'd agree that I don't think that the new NA engines will have quite the same 'vavoom' as the 1.8T engine.
nicks3
Perhaps the TT 3.2 DSG or 225 Turbo is the way to go! Thats not being changed soon is it??
Woppum
I think for sportiest drive and for bombing about the R32 is the way to go, if you order one now it will probably be the same wait as it would be for the 3.2 though... they are impossible to get hold of, production problem after production problem.. I recon the bosses have fell for hands and hands for feet, but then again they did weel with the car though...
UmmS3
What the heck, I'm going for a nearly new S3. Early new model A3's are going to be just too dull and I'll be just about ready for the upgrade should a new S3 (or sportier 3.2 V6) appear in a couple of years. I reckon the new model will sell like hot cakes and it won't be long before the roads are full of the critters. I'll let those drivers battle with the teething problems and recalls associated with bleeding edge. That is, until I change my mind again... Prhim
Re the R32; my local VW dealer says the UK production quota has already been fulfilled and they aren't taking any new orders (just selling cancelled and dealer-bound cars). Sales bluster or fact? You decide....
UmmS3
And I went for it... seed was planted 2 years ago so it was inevitable really. And here we are.. Dec '02 Ebony S3. What a remarkable car. Buy, buy, buy, before they're all gone.
nicks3
I've taken the other route and am going to wait for the new A3 3.2 DSG and hope its sporty enough!
