  1. System in Aus is the ABS based system. The "better" system is AFAIK only used in the US (and that due to their laws). For all the hassle with sensors and such that the sensor based systems have, I'm very happy with the ABS based system.
  2. Hi All, Been offered a deal (almost) too good to be true on a Milltek cat-back that includes shipping it to Australia. A quick question on the cat-back systems specifically, are there both resonated and un-resonated versions of the cat back? Or, is the resonation option (as I am being told by the seller) only for full systems? Any help appreciated.
  3. I picked up a screw in my front tyre, the TPMS picked it well before I felt anything (When I took the car in to get it sorted it was 2PSI lower). Much more sensitive than I am in road conditions anyway. Upshot, tyre repairable because caught it straight away,
  4. Update as promised... My dealer fitted the clip kit to my seats on Wednesday (as well as the usual rattle hunt). Apparently, VW Australia was unaware of any problems with the Recaros until I raised it with them <coughbullshitcough> however they got a revised clip kit from Germany which seems to resolve the problem. My dealer did the right thing and showed me the old (and new) clips side by side - the new ones seem much better designed (Sorry couldn't get a photo). Then, at VW's expense (and my strong suggestion)they got a qualified motor trimmer, rather than a workshop apprentice to fit the kit. Result: Seat looking like new again, because the job was done by a professional.
  5. Had a call last week from the dealership that the "clip kit" has come in (Not the replacement seat), the kit has taken nearly a month to come in, and I'm not confident that it is going to solve the problem...... Either to my satisfaction, or permanently. Still there's always train wreck TV (AKA Current Affairs shows). Given that the car has been back to the dealership 5 times for various problems, in as many months of ownership, I think I can get some interest, especially as the seats are a $4000 option in Australia. WIll give you all feedback on Wednesday my time (which is when the car goes in).

    Questions

When my windows got tinted the fitter gave me a rattle at no extra charge. There's a good article on MK V disassembly on the 'tex (Linky follows). http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2749615 In my case it was that the speaker cup for the tweeter in the door was rattling against the connector (you'll see what I mean when you get it apart. Speaker cup is in front of the handle.) What usually happens is that it gets rotated slightly when the door is apart and rattles against the connectors. Easy way to tell is to turn up the volume on the stereo slightly (with the window up). If the door rattles in time with the radio, that's your problem! I used rattle tape (rubberised tape) anything that could touch anything else and it's been very quite since. Hope this helps

    MKV trimmings

Hmm, tried to reply to this earlier, but seems to have got lost. I'll definitely have a set if they come in 5dr/4dr (depending on how you define it). 4 doors on the sides I'm happy to pay postage to Australia to get a set!.
  8. I sent them a copy of your photo and asked them how much to send them to Australia.....
  9. Then it becomes expensive.... Rather spend the dough on performance
  10. Nice, can you order them on-line? Like the extra heel-rest are also.
  11. Yeh, I'm getting the front splitter from OSIR - waiting for the Australian agent to get set up. I'm not big on "cosmetic only" mods, but I do like that splitter. Nice that they are starting to do stuff for the MK V R32 though.....
  12. Not the Millteks But the carbon fibre insert shown here.... Does anyone have any idea of a source?
  13. Not on the Aussie ones.....
  14. According to VW Australia, they have ordered "parts" to resolve the issue, and they will take 10-14 days to arrive. Now not sure whether the parts are a new seat (preferable) or a rework kit. Either way it seems that VW are aware of the problem, pity that the car I had to wait 7 months for exhibits a problem that has been known about for several months before it was built. Also, if they are replacing the driver's seat, then I would expect the passenger's to be replaced at the same time (so that they are consistent). Is this unreasonable? Anyway more to follow as and when it happens.
  15. I've spoken to Guy (Harding) about these, they sound the goods. Not cheap though, and best with a re-map according to Guy. He's also promoting the DMS remap which I'd be interested in opinions of, as it seems to provide a very good performance boost for just a remap. If you are looking for them for the UK, make sure you get the stainless steel option!. I'm planning to get a remap for mine (when the financial controller will allow me to do so, she wants a new fence - selfish I say). I'm going over there in the next few days so can get some photos and more information if anyone needs it.
