Lovely car, lovely lady, aherm driven quite well in certain times with excessive speed's......(good girl !!) Oops if this is anyones g/f or wife !!!! Anyone know the good looking blonde then ????? Leesy
  2. Hope they don't lend it to Lewis Hamilton's father ???????????? Wonder how may bits he would return ???
  3. Sorry i may not have fully explained.....My question was would the car battery drain overnight (or over a weekend) if i left the iPod in the car connected..... Thks Lee.
  4. Hi Guys, On my 520 i've got a BMW fitted iPod adaptor fitted in the gluebox that charges the iPod and also allows me to play my tunes through the iDrive system. Does anyone know if this is a permanent 'live' ie if i leave the iPod in overnight will this flatten the battery ? Thks. Lee.
  5. Cheers gIzzE (saviour as ever !!!) Seems i was doing the right thing as per the e60 posts. Just i bottled it when it came to pulling the bumper section forward to get behind to access the clips.Thought i was doing it wrong but i'll give it another blast tomorrow (ie when it's lighter, dryer and warmer - hopefully !!!!) It's living up to the stereotype of being 'grim up North today'!! Cheers Lee.
  6. Hi, Must be a complete dunce but i've got the grilles and taken the rubber seal clip on section off and seen 5 torx screws. I took them off but these were attached to the whole front bumper section ????? Replaced everything as it starting tipping down with rain so got the nice new black grilles but not on yet. Am i missing something really really obvious about taking the old ones out and putting the new ones on ????? Help Lee.
  7. Done nothing extra to either the phone or car but now seems to connect and access the phone book. Not sure why it couldn't before just happy it can now (presume poor reception). Cheers Lee.
  8. Hi Guys, When i got my 520 the other week i paired my Nokia no problem and had full access to my phone book via the i-drive. Due to a network change my work phone has changed from the Nokia to a Sony Ericsson K530i. I've deleted the Nokia from the car and attempted to pair the SE. Seems to have worked as i can make and receive calls from the car but cannot access the phone book via the i-drive ? Anyone know how i can get the phonebook to access ?? Thks. Lee.
  9. Hi, My new matt black grille's are sitting at the posties ready for me to pick up tomorrow. How easy are they to fit and has anyone done there's ? Cheers. Lee.
  10. End of an era, could anyone ever try and replace him !!!!! RIP. God bless..
  11. Wear my Rolex submariner every day for work as it's a watch at the end of the day but agree and do as some previous posts ie when in underpriviliged area's eg parts of the caribbean, south america etc leave it in the safe. At the end of the day in these situations it is rather vulgar and provacative ....
  12. Last friday night walked straight past one in the shiny dealership in Newcastle (Fawdington) en-route to collect my new 520 MSport. My friendly dealer noticed and asked if i had noticed it (didn't help it was bloody silver in a showroom full of silver cars !!!). Not sure but when i looked it didn't quite click with me !! (sure its a love-hate thing and nothing in between). Lee.
  13. Cheers Al, Doing that as i like the car so much now. Had a heavy week and done over 1k miles this week and it's a joy to drive. Can't wait to get finished for the weekend so i can give it a wash (still waiting for my black grilles to be delivered as well) Last question..... Has anyone hard-wired in their sat-nav's as i've ordered a RoadAngel 9000 with built in GPRS updates and ideally i'd like to hard-wire it and mount it somewhere where i can remove it but not with the windscreen sticky thing !!! (in my A4 i used a powered Brodit mount for the TomTom) Cheers Lee.
  14. Thks for all the comments either way regarding the replacement option and retrofit (wish i had the guts to attempt it but not being of that inclination it seems a big job). Decided not to go with the 525d as well if i had of liked it i would have bought it in the first place (was already at the dealers when i bought the 520d). Reason for not buying it.... Silver (my last 4 cars have been silver and i thought the 520d in space grey looked really nice).Although with media pack overall the spec is not as good as the 520d.Last but not least it is a 56 plate rather than just 5mths old as the 520d.Also the dealer wanted an additional £2k cash on top of what i'm paying for the 520d and overall that was over the odds for that car. Tried the NAV in a pals 530DM Sport and well i wasn't that overwhelmed with it. Ordeal over and next time i'll double check the spec before signing.......Doh !!!!! Cheers. Lee.
  15. Just had the call from the dealer. He's offered me a 525DM Sport with 6k on the clock and on a 56 plate for an additional £2k. Car has full media pack,M-Sport spoiler, full leather but std 18" wheels (kind of think mine looks good with the 19"s on) Politely said thanks but no thanks. By all accounts BMW nav isn't everything it's cracked up to be. Going to get the Road Angel 9000 which has full GPRS live updates and try and get it hardwired. I'll get some pics posted up over the weekend when she's all clean and shiny (got another long trip lined up tomorrow where it'll get dirty again). Cheers. Lee.
  16. Thks for all the posts guys and girls. Indeed the mistake was all mine and if the dealer do come up with something it will be a bonus (i am a business user and they know i renew my car every 18mths - 2yrs). Not sure if the dealers possible solution is a replacement car or a retrofit (poss replacement). Either way he's going to report back to me tomorrow as my man at the dealer has been on holiday mon/tues. Done 550 miles down to Yorkshire then up to Glasgow and back home over the past few days on business and enjoyed driving the 5. So much better than the A4. Lee.
  17. Hi Merlot, Not sure waiting for the dealer to report back tomorrow. If an exchange for a similarly spec'd vehicle is not possible i'm going to go for the RoadAngel 9000 as this seems a lot better than the OE BMW NAV. All is not lost !!!!!! Lee.
  18. Yeah, Thinking about just keeping it and going with the RoadAngel anyrate but i'll keep an open ear to what the dealer tells me tomorrow. At the end of the day it was my mistake and i'm big enough to admit it. If i do keep the car i'll get it washed and post some pic's later on in the week as i've got a busy schedule early this week. Lee
  19. Absolutely love it (apart from my satnav error - read my other post about being gutted). Dealer is going to ring me tomorrow about a possible replacement but i'm sure if i get one with NAV it won't have all the goodies that this one has. I may keep it and get the RoadAngel 9000 as it's a top NAV with loads of other gadgets included. Al - Have you got NAV on yours and are you enjoying your 5 ?? Lee.
  20. Cheers gIzzE. Thks for the advice, invaluable as ever. Going to see what the dealer comes up with on Monday (think a lesser spec car is available also with more miles) but maybe i'm feeling a bit beat-up at the moment. Been looking on the net as the original plan was car with builtin sat-nav and then a road-angel detector (prev A4 was cluttered with too much stuff ie hard-wired tomtom, dension iPod kit, audi hands-free so was trying to avoid too much clutter). But........... Just seen the Road Angel 9000 , bit steep on price and a subscription required but it could solve all my problems and it seems head and shoulders above the OE BMW kit and also has permanent updates, camera detection units, weather and also road closure alerts....Great Kit Has anyone tried it and does anyone know if it can be hard-wired to the car ?? Cheers. Lee. There's light at the end of the dark and dreary tunnel!!!
  21. Still gutted, did not want trailing wires everywhere. Dealership said retro-fit was £5k+ (not an option, easier to change the car as this would be dead-money) Totally and utterly my fault but as i said when i rang the dealership this morning what plonker orders a car with this great spec and then omits a basic as SAT-NAV (errrr Fawdington BMW as it was the finance directors car !!!!!!!!!! & he lives local so does not need NAV). Just looked at the car on the drive and it looks bloody great but this has tainted it for me. I was going to buy a road angel laser/camera detector as the only add-on, does anyone want to comment on their nav's and do the nav units have the detector stuff on ??? Dealership will be in touch on Monday with a possibility of an option to get me out of this pickle but i have the sneaking suspicion it will probably either cost me more or be a car with a lesser spec and more miles. Suppose things could be worse. Lee.
  22. Hi Alastair, Did not get mine new as you did (4mths old + 8k miles). Plse see my other mail about my basic mistake. Gutted, spoils everything now !! Lee.
  23. Took delivery of my 520DM Sport last night at 6pm and had a lovely drive home. Lightly used with 8k on the clock and less than 6mths old its fully loaded with.... Sun protection glass Full black leather Heated Seats Parking Sensors 19" wheels Bluetooth iPod adaptor Looks the absolute dogs b#lloc@s if i say so myself. However in the cold light of day i've realised i've made the biggest assumption ever and for a business user it's an absolute essential..... NO SATNAV (aargh). To some people this would not pose a problem but i assumed due to the spec of the vehicle it would have been present. Totally my fault and am totally gutted. I've rang the dealer and he's going to see if he can sort something out for me. Nightmare !!!!!!!!!!!!!!(glad i didn't sell the tomtom on e-bay now) Lee.
  24. My 520DM Sport was ready for collection tonight...... Superb luv it.... Only the dealer gave me the service records and destructions for a X5 3.0D .........Doh !!!! I'll be back tomorrow to get the proper pack (was too excited to notice at collection)!! I want to remove the 520D badge, is the hair-dryer floss method recommended and what have people used to clean the bootlid down afterwards ??? I'll post pic's over the weekend when all cleaned up as it pee's it down after i collected her. Cheers. Lee.
  25. Hi, On the website you originally told me about they were £79.99 but seemed to just be carbon fibre you stick over the originals. I like the carbon fibre idea but have found some on eBay (saviour of the modern planet at times) and they are a matt black and so i think will make a more subtle look (sometimes i think CF is just a little too bling). Thks for the link (what you driving now ?) Lee. PS - As the anticipation of the new arrival gets closer the more i'll be using this forum (brings back memories of when i was active on TT-forum, lots of familiar names especially in the M section)
