1. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If you interpret the sub rythms and pentameters read it backwards, translate into Arabic, Chinese and returning to English by way of the Portuguese tongue, and then double each word and delete the first, you can discover that you've made it make less sense than when you've started. Tasty. [/ QUOTE ] I think you're onto something there, but I dare I cast aspersions on Sniff's real allegiances and motives... Looking at the last Carcoat, starting with the sentence "Sniff my missus..". Using equidistant letter spacing throughout the entire article (commencing with 22 digit spaces but sometimes modified through an as-yet-undetermined equation, probably related to a multiple of 6, or perhaps 4 or 2 or something like that, but totally consistent and provable nonetheless) you actually come up with the statement "Satan is my gay lover" 'Fess up Sniff. You are in the Legion of Beezelbub and are planning world domination (or at least, some kind of fame, pay rise or increased popularity...) there is no other explainable methodology behind the unintelligible ravings of Carcoat.
2. [ QUOTE ] Ayyy, good to see another Aussie. [/ QUOTE ] Goorronya mate throwanutha shrimp ontha barbie etc etc... Adelaide eh? My state of origin. At least you all speak proper english over there instead of here in convict country...theiving bastards... [ QUOTE ] And btw, in regards to the 7L (429 or was it 427?) Monaro's that are run for our 24hr run around Bathurst, don't run restrictors, unlike all the other cars. Which is why they win all the time. Which is why I don't watch it, because its bollocks. [/ QUOTE ] Couldn't agree more if I had a degree in agreeing from the agreement university in agreeland. But more than that the NC Monaro is what V8 Supercars should be, whilst the others are mainly prod. It's a moot point because the 24hr seems to be dead. Well, NC certainly is. A fact I am none too happy about. That's the only category I went to the Clipsal 500 for!! [ QUOTE ] Ford? Look at the AU Falc, must admit the BA is a stella machine, and even the base model with the 4l inline 6 sounds the biz when revved the ring out of. [/ QUOTE ] Yerr, but it's still a company car. As far as company cars go it's not bad, have one me'self. You can hear that multivalve twin cam growl. Bravo Ford for approaching the 20th century!! (Or whatever century we are actually in)
3. [ QUOTE ] Some of the cars are pretty Hot at SEMA...How the cars should have looked if the manufacturer had the balls produce them. Else where on this forum are some now named, 'fooken quick like' Volvos lookin pretty cool. [/ QUOTE ] It sounds interesting. I'm sure some are aesthetically enhanced with artistic tastefulness. But then I'm sure some are tarted up piles of poo. You know, with big wings stickytaped on, useless expensive anodised bits which barely raise a "wow, love the anodised wheel bearing cap" from a schoolkid, and slickdizzy's favourite, neon lights emitting eerie supernatural glow and big low profile tyres and rims which are worth more than the car. Or are we talking about vans decked out in plush pile with disco balls and elvis mirrors on the ceiling? Then again I suppose I should just check out the show on the 'net before shooting my mouth off in an attempt to graduate up the TSN posting ranks. Keep smiling and 'bye for now.
4. ...Ah yes... pointless poo. The thing about pointless poo is...
5. Time for me to crash this party. Ah yes, the difference between Cabriolets and convertibles. Takes me back to my days as a young whippersnapper and my Austin Healey Sprite Mk II. A car which, I hope, is not included in Sniff Petrol's book. The MGB, however, definitely belongs in there. So do their owners. As a spriter we found that MGB owners didn't take their roofs off until the ambient temperature was around 40 degrees. Myself on the other hand was quite happy to have the roof off even in light rain. Something to do with the silly bracing system across the top of the windscreen causing water buildup and large drips inside cabin. So it was actually drier to have to roof off. Unless you had to stop of course. So the best thing was not to. Stop that is. Where were we??
6. [ QUOTE ] Yep, 1970 Dodge Charger 500 383cui ! Lovely! Thats the only downside of the internet - easy access of Catherine Bach photos as she is today. No offense to her but it soon kills those Daisy Duke/Cannonball Run II memories [/ QUOTE ] That's OK, I'm Australian. We like living in the past; Apologising for things our great great great grandforefathers may or may not have possibly done to indigenous people, constantly going on about Jack Brabham and that Jones bloke, pushrods, live rear axles, 2 valves p.c..... and Daisy Duke as she used to be....phwoar...
7. [ QUOTE ] Did hammond do a Donut like that one? I don't think he did I couldn't breathe for hours and our dear Dodge had to go tyre shopping but it was well worth it [/ QUOTE ] This is about the extent of my knowledge of American Cars but....isn't that the Dukes of Hazzard mobile?? (cue madcap pursuit banjo music) Mmmm....Daisy.... Well that sure dates me...
8. [ QUOTE ] then again at age 15, I really have no choice... [/ QUOTE ] Apart from your eloquence and superior vocabulary, you are clearly the most cynical and jaded 15 year old I have ever come across, who takes delight in belittling things around you rather than see the good in things. Bravo for that!! ...but shouldn't you be in bed?? (Sorry...couldn't resist that ) I'm old... Yeppers, the HSV GTS 300kw jobbie by Holden was quite a piece of work. It even managed to impress the Euros when it took on a Bimmer 5 series and Merc V8 around the wonderful, beautiful piece of tarmac called "The Nordschleife". I suppose I can't knock a car that does that. The brakes and suspension are still shite though. Agreed. NASCAR is the ultimate formula meat-head, racing for the masses. Even Australia's attempt at it failed dismally. A few miles from where I write is Australia's only, now disused super-speedway. Ha!! My heart still bleeds. I had no idea it was so bad over there. Oh well, at least you have ALMS, nice places like Road America, Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen. They're as good as Bathurst!
9. [ QUOTE ] Apparently American car manufacturers think we like our cars big, slow, and front wheel drive with anemic pushrod engines (in GM's case, anyway) [/ QUOTE ] Egads!! No wonder you like the XR6! You'd be happy with any large RWD made with pride in Ors-trayah. You poor buggers. This, I can understand. New Zealanders however... They've got RS Turbos, Lots of GT4 Celicas, WRX's, various other assorted AWD rockets and Euro hatches, windy roads...yet they like Aussie cars. I'm sure we're sending you guys a boatload of Monaros, um...Pontiac GTO or woteva the heck it's called...enjoy!!! Next you'll be telling me you enjoy Aussie V8 Supercar racing...do you guys get it on cable up there? It's very entertaining. If you like that kinda thing. Namely, racing cars with pushrods, live rear...and if you can't count past 2...(2 manufacturers, 2 valves per cylinder.. ) They make ChampCar look hi tech! (I don't mind champ car by the way )
10. Oh yeah, that's right...I did see the Game over Ad, thanks for that. Love it. I was kinda more interested in an SP take on how the Monaro, or a facsimile thereof, is allowed to race in a production-based exotics series (Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches etc), as a space frame chassis with an LMR Corvette 7 Litre V8 made to look like a Monaro. Australia takes on the world, say the knuckle draggers... XR6 Turbo is not a bad bus but still a Falcon and will fall apart in a year or two. I have a BA, the base model. Nice motors- Ford Oz finally worked out that more than two valves per cylinder could be done. Good for them!! Yep, we like our cars big and fast here in Oz. Then we are forced to drive on runway-class freeways at usually no more than 80km/h. What's the point in living. Needless to say our road toll is mostly due to bored, tired drivers. Cheerio
11. OK American people, I feel left out. This is not as spectacular as being American but it's the next best thing what with our respective leaders being so chummy 'n all...I am an Aussie subscriber...and I hate my country's cars as much as you do. Although I reckon the US of frickin A's road system is much better than ours...you bastards.... I like going to the movies, meeting people, walking on the beach at sunset and canning serial meat heads who actually think that Australian cars have any redeeming qualities and are actually good on racetracks so much so that we create a category of touring car racing purely devoted to making both Aussie brands look good by not allowing them to compete against the outside world.......(deep breath) Sorry about the long sentence and hurrah to Sniff Petrol for hours of pants-wetting workday entertainment. Please do something on SP about the Holden Monaro. Please. There is nothing quite as funny as seeing such an overstated piece of bile get berated by a witty person. Cop y'z later
