An Afternoon at Simpsons

I had to drive their on Friday to get a repaired bumper put on. Looked totally first class and couldn't tell the difference between that and a new one. It was quite lucky I went actually as the day on the track the day before had put huge wear on my AP's. There was no fade throughout the day but after about 20+ fast hard laps in a row they were really starting to grumble and vibrate a little. I thought the disks were warped. I was all prepared to do the upgrade to the performance friction disks, however Anthoney said after a quick drive that the brakes were totally fine and the Ap's just do that after very hard use.

Anyway while the car was there I thought id treat myself to a couple more minor mods. After having to replace the stupid actuator when my car was down on power I have wanted to remove the butterfly plate on the air intake. So that came off. No difference to noise, and I don't have to worry about the motor packing up again and having S3's scream past me at santa pod! wink.gif

The second mod is a little more interesting. They replaced my rear bushes but at the same time added a thin ally spacer to each side of it to greatly reduce the lateral movement making the car more composed in the corners. So far I haven't noticed a huge difference, I can catch slides better but that might just be from my experience on the track. However its done, it was inexpensive and if its better its better.

Simposons seem to really know what they are chatting about. Look at the work going on in the garage and the ease the mechanic showed while taking apart the CSL really proved when it comes to BMW these guys know what they are doing. Its just a shame they are so far away from town. If you live closeby though, certainly worth using for anything BMW!
