S3ENVY Posted October 1, 2007 Report Share Posted October 1, 2007 I've noticed that certain MP3's will not play from the SD slots on my RNS-E unit & wondered if anyone else has had the same experience? The names show up on the screen but it will skip the tracks to the next ones playable. They're definitely not WMA's or any other format, so I was wondering what defines an MP3 file that the unit can play? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Skipping usually results from bad burn,bad media,failing head unit..Thats only on previous head units i have had that were non audi..try different burning program,or diff media... techieboy Posted October 2, 2007 Report Share Posted October 2, 2007 Non-alphanumeric characters in the filename? I'm sure I read RNS-E didn't like strange characters in the filename or similar. PetrolDave Posted October 2, 2007 Report Share Posted October 2, 2007 If you have EU SW version 0550 or 0600 the "illegal" character restriction has been removed. The other situation I've seen cause this problem is where the ID tag has a format that the RNS-E cannot read (it's not 100% compliant). This happened to me when I ripped the audio from a DVD. Chav Posted October 3, 2007 Report Share Posted October 3, 2007 i've had this a couple of times - on files that SHOULD play. eg < 64 characters, all alpha-numeric etc. the name displays fine, but it just skips the song. last song to do it was fergie big girls dont cry. havent worked out why yet. bizarre! its 192kbps which should be fine. its definitely not a tag problem!
