I need a router that is secure (obviously) but also looks like a plain white box if possible as it will have to sit next to my front door as its the only place we have a phone socket in the house. They had some problems with the earlier revisions, but the version 3 ones seem pretty solid and reliable. (I've known of problems with most makes and models really, so it's a bit of a lucky dip.) Si. Arch Posted October 7, 2007 Report Share Posted October 7, 2007 Work recommended and gave me a Netgear DG834GT. Apple'esque kind of white and quite small. They were happy with it from a security point of view as I use it to VPN to work. It's a Super G one, and the wireless isn't bad through our three storeys. cruiser647 Posted October 7, 2007 Report Share Posted October 7, 2007 If you have the phone socket by your door, then you will need a Wireless ADSL Modem Router - Netgear 834 RangeMax thingy. Will give you the possibility of some future proofing as the standard will be around for a while and its much faster than the current main stream 802.11g. Got one and then spotted a nice laptop and decided that work needed to buy it for me HP laptop Just need to get home tonight and set it up and get used to this Vista milarky!
