MajorH
Anyone had the same problem, the gun I bought from elite in October is very difficult to insert and twist the half turn to lock it, in fact it's so tight that when turning it you loosen the tube in between the fitting and the gun. I took a vernier to the attachment and a Karcher lance and the snow foam fitment was 1.95 mm wider so this could be part of the problem but its also very difficult to push in and compress the flow valve in the end of the lance. Any suggestions/solutions greatly received.
drpellypo
Yes, it's a very very common fault. You need to drill the adaptor out slightly so as to make it wider. I used an 8mm bit on mine and it works fine now.
alexc
As Paul has said, some do need slighly modifying. It varies from machine to machine. On some Karchers it works fine every time, on others it can be a tight fit. If you need any further guidance, don't hesitate to contact me. MajorH
Thanks Alex, I spend a lot of time abroad and my foaming toys are in the UK, I'll follow Paul's advice over Christmas and drop you a line if its still a problem.
maersk
Surely if you drill it out you will fubar the internal o ring? Mine is also tight (strangely) occasionally, whilst at other time it fits easily.
wyliss
If you drill in about 2-3mm with a 8mm bit it should be fine !
maersk
Only 2 to 3 mm ?
drpellypo
maersk - there's no oring on the inside of the adaptor. Certainly not where you drill it, anyway. I've drilled three so far, and they've all been fine.
maersk
How far to drill then, good doctor? I am convinced I can see an o ring / o ring groove in there...................................
Jools
Maersk you are right, mine has a o ring in there too. Mine was the same as this so i put a little bit off grease in the hole. All the attachments fit a hell off a lot easier now.
maersk
Ok, development. There IS an O ring in there. Removed it (with a needle) and drilled out the brass with an 8.5mm drill (well, actually an 11/32) and replaced the O ring and robert is now my father's brother - a perfect fit. Two questions remain, 1. Why are the O rings 8mm when all easily obtained rings are 7 and 10 mm? 2. Why use mild steel for the connecting pipe from brass fitting to foamer section? The shiny finish has gone and the internal bore is now rusting quietly................ I feel more mods coming on. Not what you expect considering the high purchase price.......so where to source some nice thick wall, stainless pipe or a plastic alternative......................................... MajorH
Bit shoddy if its MS tube considering the price, so you could and up foaming with a mix of foam and iron oxide particles.
maersk
Deffo mild steel. Anyone any ideas on where to find suitable replacement tube?
drpellypo
Odd - I never saw the o ring, and on the lavor, it's on the outside. But yes, there has to be one in there. d'oh! Have a look at the HD lances - they are of much better construction, and come standard with 1 litre bottles too. I can supply them if anyone is interested. maersk
BUT, the price my boy, oi veh. I would then have two foamers!!!!
MajorH
Solution found took an 8.5mm drill bit to the gun but it was a rattle fit in the hole, finally traced the fault to a broken spring in the Karcher gun (the one you compress as you push and twist the attachment in) Tried it in a new gun and bingo fits perfect. bpsmith
Bought one of those a couple of months back and they really rock! Awesome deal too, as I paid quite a bit more back then.
davyk31
What size is the foam bottle on those lances on offer. Is it large enough to do the whole car without running out? Are there several different foam lances on the market as I am very tempted to buy one soon. I assume the snow foam listed in this offer is of decent quality and will not strip wax/polish. I have always bought all my products from Elite.....so Alex have you anything to offer in the January sales??
maersk
Ian Ho please report back when oit arrives, I am interested in the 'quality' of the thing. Thanks

Arch
I thought I'd post in here rather than starting a new thread. Can someone please tell me the difference between all these £40-£50+ snow foam lances and the Karcher one on the Halfords site for £14.99? Answers along the lines of "Around £25-£35 quid!" will not be helpful. I'm assuming build quality and longevity but even so, I could get 3 Halfords cheapies for the price of the competition.. maersk
Neither build quality (check on here for the mods you may have to make - it will almost certainly leak from new because it was not put together properly)nor quality of materials BUT the way it generates foam is at least 4 times better and in use it is worth every penny. I just wish it was assembled properly and built to better tolerances. BUY ONE! You won't regret it. (well actually you might, I was initially but you soon get over the disappointment once you use it more)
steelwind101
Hi Arch, I used to have one of these yellow attachments sometime ago. They produce a more frothy foam then these other lances. The ones like Alex sales generates a really thick fluffy foam. The Karcher one will produce a frothy, slighly runny, watery underneath foam. The Glimour or Foamasters produce a frothy, slighly runny, watery underneath foam. Other things like Sudsblaster etc. produce a splattering of thick soapie mixture with some foam. Arch
Ok, thanks guys. I shall probably invest in one of the good ones then.
