Road Rage

On the way to work this morning after dropping my partner off at work i positioned myself in the outside lane of Norwich Ring rd as i do everyday, drove along in the outside lane and over took a newish corsa, clear rd ahead, (its dual carrigeway). look in mirror to see this big fat bald man flashing his lights and indicating to pull over, start thinking what have i done wrong, is there something wrong so slow down for him to get closer, hes swearing at me offering to fight me and all the rest of it. Eventually i got behind him and he stops and starts to get out of the car and then drives off. I can honestly say that everyday i go in the outside lane and go past many cars in the morning as luckily i turn right off the ringrd eventually so can stay in the right hand lane.

Have i done anything wrong? or is it a jealousy thing? He was about the same age as me and had something written down the side of the car, something begining with b. Wish i knew and i would ring his company up and find out his problem!

Rant over

Matt

Dual carriage way, clear road ahead, you stay in the overtaking lane then slow down when someone wants past.

When you both stop, and some nutter gets out and stabs you...you will wish you just moved over to the left and let the idiot past. What it worth to get somebody worked up like that, who ever is in the wrong.

From the decription you gave, it sounds like YOU were in the wrong lane?

Just because you have to turn right a mile or so further down the road, doesn't mean you can sit in the outside lane when the left lane is clear. You should have pulled across after overtaking the Corsa, and indicated right once approaching your turnoff.

This does in no way excuse the attitude of the driver behind you though.

Personally I'd have flashed you a couple of times then undertook if no response.

I agree. From your description it sounds like this is the case and if so, you are in the wrong. It certainly does NOT excuse his actions, but i am so pi55ed off with the increased number of people doing this - especially on motorways. It causes so much unceccesary congesion.

Just pull across to the left when the road is clear.

Haha, very funny! That is a completely different thing, but more annoying. It beggars belief the amount of people who refuse to move into the inside lane, effectively making a 3 lane motorway the same as a duel carriageway.

Its the bit by homebase and mousehold. I didn't stay in the outside lane all the way, because it merges into one and then over the roundabout where the build up of traffic was trying to go straight i then joined the other traffic who were trying to turn right as i was if that makes sense.

I had done nothing wrong other then maybe creep over the 40mpg speed limit, i suppose i'll get a roasting for that now.

Dear Matt,

We a need a diagram showing the road and car positions, then we can give a final verdict based on the facts!! znaika.gif

Agreed. I tend to wait until they are slowing down (typically a mile or so from the sodding roundabout), and then pass them on the inside (as i'm slowing slower/later than them)

Completely legal as far as I'm aware!! 169144-ok.gif

i just slow down and go in left lane because 9 time out of 10 you can just tell that the person hogging the right lane really wants to be in the left and will wait until the last minute and panic or cut you up on the roundabout.

Does anyone else on here have a kind of sixth sense when these things happen.. look at a way someone is driving and then think hmmmmm i will stay clear of him/her.

When it comes to lane discipline, every one should try an unrestricted German Autobahn. You sit in the outside lane on one of these mothers at anything less than a 150KPH and you'll have a Porker / Merky B up yer tail pipe with full headlights on in no time at all EEK2.GIF . Certainly teaches you lane discipline.
