....Not just to keep the heat from the engine at bay, but such channelling forms a box scoop/container for the air when the bonnet is closed. The EVOMS more so than the VF.

....Agreed, but you need to take possible water ingress into account. I know someone who literally scrapped his Peugeot last week due to water in a low mounted air intake.

Then the silly fecker should have fitted an air bypass valve, like you get with the EIP kit.

I ran an EIP kit on mine for over two years and never had any problems, despite driving through fords and lots of nasty weather - the air bypass valve is set at the same height as the stock air box. There's a link to a vid on the EIP site on how it works.
