Mook Posted February 1, 2008 Report Share Posted February 1, 2008 It just has a guard, designed to keep the hot air from the engine from getting to the filter. If you want to do it properly, get a Cold Air Intake (CAI) where the filter sits behind the front grill on the passenger side. Mook Posted February 1, 2008 Report Share Posted February 1, 2008 Then the silly fecker should have fitted an air bypass valve, like you get with the EIP kit. I ran an EIP kit on mine for over two years and never had any problems, despite driving through fords and lots of nasty weather - the air bypass valve is set at the same height as the stock air box.
