Had this on my previous Golf so I wouldnt worry about it from a safety point of view. Agree its looks a bit crap though.

Wire brush and paint is the best option although corrosion will find its way back through eventually.

It's not an 'issue' at all. Brake discs are made of low quality steel therefore they rust. Because of the hub design on the A3/Golf/TT and the wheels on them getting larger and larger the brake discs tend to be much more in view.

So, the choices are hammerite or forcing Audi to buy higher quality steel brake discs which will hurt your wallet wink.gif

Modular, grey cast iron. The best qualities of it (for brakes)exhibit the ability for you to watch it rust!!!

No, not overnight but see the rust form in minutes. This oxidation layer acts as a barrier to further corrosion, which is why manhole covers do not rust away.
