Hi Folks..... Please HELP.

I have an A4 B6 2003 avant and my alarm has started to continually sound, although its stopped at the moment. confused.gif

It doesn't seem to matter wheather the car is locked or not. It even sounds when the engine is running. I have also noticed that when I lock the car the the led on the door flashes for approx 7 times and then stays lit for a few minutes. It does eventally start flashing normally every second .

I tried switching off the interior ultrasound and tilt sensor to no avail.

I carried out a VAG scan and found this:

Address 46: Central Conv.

Controller: 8E0 959 433 BC

Component: Komfortgerát T3B 1110

Coding: 07147

Shop #: WSC 63351

1 Fault Found:

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)

49-00 - No Communications

Any Ideas what all this means?......Please grin.gif

Could be.......It is still intermittently going off today but strangely there are NO lights flashing as I would have expected if it was a legit. alarm trigger. I can also open doors and start the car with the alarm still sounding. If the battery backup is on the way out would this cause these symptoms. I'm going out now the try to see if I can trigger the alarm. arm through window procedure.....

Car seems dry and I have just returned from a few days holiday driving aroung Galway so car battery should be well charged.

Curious...just glad its not louder.....

Mike

Just carried out the arm through window operation and Yes the alarm sounded and the lights flashed...Soooooooo. Its NOT an alarm trigger thats making the noise. Tell me about this battery in the sounder ?

Thanks

Mike

Yea if this were the case would I not get an indication on the dash to say somethng was open ?....... Car is a 2003 model all looks fine and dry.

Have pulled the sounder unit out of the car

Part number 8LO 951 605

Can't see any way into it but it does say that there are NI-MH inside..... Anybody know how to check these, there are 3 terminal pins on the top?

Thanks for the ideas...keep them commin'

Hi Kite.....Thanks what a great bit of work. 169144-ok.gif

Is this what is likely to be wrong with my sounder? I never heard the unit "Chirping" it just went off continually as if the unit had been disconnected.

I may have just missed that phase though.

Is it possible to check these units?

My understanding is that there is a supply feed, an earth, and a trigger from the control unit, but is it possible to check this trigger feed? Could Vag com diagnose problems?

Thanks again for the like

i have very little knowledge of alarms....i just cut and paste.

My Thoughts are...vagcom the car, it may log a fault and tell you what is triggering the alarm.

The TT alarm is known to bleep 3 times when the back ups are dying, these beeps can only be heard inside the car on start up not from the alarm horn.

I had this fault a couple of years back, which as Kite mentioned was the convience control unit located on the passenger footwell, the unit cost just over £100 from vagparts and you will need to re-code your keyfobs with the alarm and central locking using vag-com.

I found one of these CCU's on ebay last year and snapped it up for £15 just in case it goes again, apparently this is a common fault.

Thanks Kite

No beeps but if the batts are dead I may have missed them. I also might have found an alternative source of batteries which would simplify the replacement procedure considerably.

Ill keep the post updated 169144-ok.gif

Still would like to check the wiring between the sounder and control unit all Vag com says is NO communication?

Mike2 If the convenience unit was faulty would I see any other faults with Vag com ? When I triggered the alarm "through the window" it operated as expected with lights and sound but it was that the sounder was going off by itself with no lights.

Must check under the seats again..........

Car is a 2003 model...does that sound reasonable for batts?

Thanks

Mike,

I am not sure what faults were displayed on vag com but I was advised what the problem was (Member A4Sline)who is very clued up on Audi's, I replaced it and the faults went away and that was two years ago.

The fault started intermittantly, it started with the alarm going off fairly often, then I would come home to my car parked with all the windows open, then eventually I couldnt stop the alarm from stopping so I bought a new CCU and all was good.

Thanks Mike,

I'm not convinced it is a positive alarm trigger.

When I set off the alarm (arm through window) the lights flashed as well as the sounder, positive alarm trigger, where as at the weekend it was only the sounder activated, and no lights.

No fault codes on Vagcom except "NO Communications with horn H12".

From this I am hoping that its not a CCU located fault just a sounder problem.

Sounder is due to arrive on friday sooooooo we shall see

Thanks again 169144-ok.gif

Collected new sounder on Friday, Audi have changed the design to a new slim line unit, which has a larger mounting bolt. Drilled out the original bracket to accept this larger bolt, found a nut to fit and fitted it in the same place as the old unit.

Reset all fault codes and ran the car for a few minutes to charge up the Ni-Cd's, then rechecked car. All clear. I then deliberately set the alarm off to check the system was fully operational and rechecked the system again. No faults found. Great. Seems like the initial fault was confined to the sounder......Success.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Mike

P.S checked out the control unit under passanger seat, Everything was bone dry....But ...What a daft place to put an ECU ????

Lets hope the newer designed unit will last a bit better. When I disected my old unit it was exactly as described in the How To write-up with leaky batteries and all. It might be possible to repace the batteries with different laptop 7.2v batteries instead....will see..

Thanks For your advice Guys......
