This amp is designed to drive a proper hi end set up consiting of a pair of front speakers and a sub. You would leave the rears driven off the head unit for some rear fill. It will take a high level signal, so can be used with factory head units with no pre amp outputs, and will switch on when it senses the signal too. To be honest I bought this when caraudiosecurity had them reduced from £349 to £200, because it was such a bargin, and I had heard it driving some DLS R4 speakers and a couple of shallow mount Earthquake SWS8 8" subs in another BMW and was blown away. This off the factory head unit sounded better than the £2000 Alpine, gensis, Rainbow and Aliante set up in my car, plus it all looked completely stock.
