Calm Chris Posted July 3, 2008 Report Share Posted July 3, 2008 Was given 137 Gb of music last week, just over 2300 albums, 32 000 files So if I want a simple portable juke box for connection to the car, the home stereo and portable use- Is the iPod the best product ? Will iTunes allow simple download from my external drive containing the MP3 files? Is the 160Gb iPod decent kit (aside from the Euro volume cap)? Does anyone own one ? Probably cheaper alternatives out there but not worth the hassle. I connect my iPods to docking stations, amp, car, laptop etc and manage everything through iTunes which I think works great. I don't own a 160GB version but my mates do and they really are impressive. They're supposedly releasing new higher capacity Touch's, although only likely to be upto 64GB apparently. The Touch is awesome though, do you really need to have all the songs on your iPod? Not sure if you can keep your songs on an external drive, but I don't see why not as it's no different than having them on a separate partition like I have at the moment. Calm Chris Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted July 9, 2008 Got the classic 160Gb, some decent headphones and after 5+ hours managed to export 34.400 tracks on 2450 odd albums to the iPOD. Jobs a good un Big question now is "Does anyone have anyway of enhancing the volume on the iPOD v6 classic" ?? It's EC standard to protect the listeners ears by not allowing too much heavy noise. BrianFD3S Posted July 16, 2008 Report Share Posted July 16, 2008 Often the iPod-dock style audio systems bypass the actual volume of the iPod when it's plugged in. ie you can have the volume turned down to zero on the iPod itself, but if the stereo system is turned up you will hear the music at a corresponding level.
