CJ92
....I agree. I hate rear tints - Chav! Bling! Pretentious! and makes a car look like a van. Myself and the little fella in my avatar really like the privacy glass-does exactly what it says on the tin..:p:p

Timski
I see from their website there's a review of the 'normal' Golf MK6 and a preview of the GTI in this month's Volkswagen Driver. Probably nothing we Tyresmokers don't already know but I think I'll have a browse next time in Smiths.

RedRobin
.... I read somewhere today (in WHSmith's public library) that the electronic 'limited slip diff' on the Mk6 GTI is really just a component of ESP etc. The motoring journo didn't rate the LSD very highly. Coincidentally, a friend has experienced an electronic LSD on a French car which developed a fault and locked up and took out the ESP as well. Such a system sounds a bit of a poor compromise. Snoopy
^ Come on Robin lol you know better than to compare apples to oranges by now lol 'Journos' ....... 'a friend....... french' say it all really. I wait and see. I hear the latest wisper in Germany is the 'R' will be 2WD. Im getting as bad as Robin quoting gosip lol. RedRobin
.... Hi Geoff - I'm not at all surprised if the 'R' will be 2WD (I'm of course assuming FWD). Particularly as the new Ford RS uses a Quaife ATB diff, it would make sense for VW to do the same but somehow I expect they'll use their own electronic system instead. TonyD
Yeah I saw one in Abridge Harlow today.... I didn't think they were launched yet but it was sitting in showroom for all and sundry to see. I had a sit inside the cockpit and it doesn't really feel any different to the MKV.... the change in MKV -> MKVI is certianly not as radical as it wasd from MKIV -> MKV. TonyD
....Hence why so many people refer to the Mk6 as the Mk5.5 Yes, thats *exactly* what I was thinking when I was looking at it.... from the front and rear there is definetely a different look, but side on and inside it just looks and feels like the current model. RedRobin
^^^^ It'll be interesting to see how the Mk6 GTI feels to drive - I've already been promised my dealer's first test drive when one arrives there. Tactile and taut feel is what delivers the joy to driving a GTI.

Snoopy
^^ spotted that the other day as well myself but it really does not say much, it did allow me to order a broucher for when they are available. Mind saying that my mk6 golf one just arrived this weekend after ordering it the same way ages ago from a similar preview page to the GTI one. [accent from two ronnies farmers sketch] The fucus aRS [/accent] looks tempting though. Edited December 21, 2008 by Snoopy

Tactile and taut feel is what delivers the joy to driving a GTI. In Car's feature this month the engineers were talking about how they had made the standard springs a little stiffer in MKVI than the MKV, so should the same feel should still be there, if not more so. Does anyone have an idea of when it's actually out? Here's hoping that the Xenon's don't go AWOL like on the standard Golfs, as I rather like them and it could almost be a deal breaker if they're not available. Snoopy
There is a manufacturingh problem with Xenons at the moment on the scirocco and also new golf. They will be available in time. The latest GTI-R rumour is its not going to be as powerful as is often talked about on the net

JonC
Does anyone know when the MKVI GTI will be available to order yet? I'm pretty sure there's a reference to that very question here in the thread - sorry haven't got the time to go through it, but failing that someone will know, perhaps Snoopy, Rob Sales or Matt R
