I think the rear of the MKVI makes the car look lower. The MKV does look a bit MPV'ish and bulbus from some rear angles by comparison.

RR - I think you were being overly critical of that MKVI - if it was full of babes I reckon your attitude would have been more positive! :roflmao:

....Those (unattractive) young women did look rather puzzled that I kept eye-ing over their car and not them!

To be honest I tend to forget what the unmodded Mk5 looks like sometimes - My fault entirely.

OUCH!

Xenon headlamps with Kurvenfahrlicht

€ 1270.00

Bi-xenon headlights for passing and driving beam

Luminous Far regulation, automatic / dynamic with Kurvenfahrlicht (AFS 1)

Headlight cleaning system

Warning for washing water.

I know these new turn ones are £850 from SEAT for the leon, i just hope the Euro does not translate straight to £ for the GTI.

Option Xenons

Volkswagen is offering the Golf GTI with completely redesigned bi-xenon headlights, including dynamic curve lighting. The headlights swivel through a steering radius of up to 13 degrees to the outside and seven degrees to the inside. The styling of the headlights closely matches the GTI’s sporty character. The interior dual modules (xenon outboard, parking light / turn signals inboard) each have a chrome pod through which a very impressive visual image projects.

Well after test driving an almost new 330D touring my wife and I were smitten, so we have bid the GTI a fond goodbye.

We both adapted to it really quickly and both felt confident driving it. It feels as exploitable as the Golf, perhaps more so as I can balance to neutrality using a bit more throttle.

Had to learn that, in order to press on you need to use the paddles, but once done I keep thinking "*expletive deleted* me! this car is good"

No random rattles from the dash, amazing torque, good steering feel, grippy seats, loads of space.

What's really surprising is how good iDrive is, it really works. Also have BMW connected drive, so I can send destinations from Google maps direct to the car.

All for around the same price as a similarly speced MKIV.

I'm afraid VW, the sums just didn't add up, for what is an facelift that has ruined the MKVs looks.

The MKV is an utterly fabulous looking car. I never ceased to love the looks (even the lower models). The MKVI is dull and a bit slapdash. It's a rush job and a hold over until 2012 when the MKVII will come out. It could have been so much better.

At the moment I'm also enjoying challenging other drivers expectations, by being really polite and courteous. I reversed to let someone join a traffic queue and gestured, with a smile on my face, for them to join in front of me, for example.

I have also proven, contrary to popular belief, that there are indicators on a BMW.

So if you see a Le Mans blue 330D with number plate beginning YA, where the driver doesn't cut you up, and let's you join traffic - it will be me, or if the driver is a red head, my wife.

Best to All

Was on the M6 and had a MkVI in lane 2 and a MkV in lane 3. The VI is definitely not as tall as the V, the roof is noticeably lower when the two are together (they were both non-GTI versions).

From the rear quarter view the VI looks like a Suzuki Swift, just slightly larger.

A car owner was devastated when just minutes after picking up his new car it caught fire.

The poor man and his two passengers had to abandon the Volkswagon Golf when the fire started as they were travelling along the A2 London bound close to the Tollgate Hotel turn off.

Fire crews from Strood and Thames-side were called to the scene at about 12.30pm on Saturday.

An electrical fault is thought to be to blame.

The car was gutted.

Yeah that's the one, although the one I saw was highly polished... must have had JC round :roflmao:

I do like to get around.... Actually, TT's nearer to where you are than me. Perhaps he was let loose with his Kestrel DA

Nice colour, though, the blue graphite :)

Ha ha! Blue Graphite Pearl is a great colour and looks fantactic when clean....but it's one of those colours which I think looks rather drab when dirty. Anyway, here's a pic when clean & shiny (MKV though not a MKVI)

I would definitely consider a MKVI Golf in this colour (perhaps not in GTI guise though) as I think it mkes the car look more upmarket. :)

LOL - I known what you mean but I kind of used to like those Corrado's they did in yellow years ago. Probably wouldn't buy a GTI in yellow myself but I'm sure some would :)

Ah, the Corrado  Still love 'em now. A guy I used to know from Eastbourne, was one of the first to win a big amount on the lottery (£360k-odd). He bought a brand new (M-reg), fully loaded Storm and I was smitten from then.
