mobile choices...opinions needed

 after 2.5 years of 'free' mobile usage since leaving my last company I've finally been informed that my '3' subscription is being stopped :roflmao:

Its not all bad, I've got my PAC so at least I won't lose the number - but now I have to chose a phone and a network (not 3)

So far it looks like either...

the new Blackberry 9000 Bold on Voda (out early August)

HTC Touch Diamond on Orange

iPhone 3G on O2.

I'd like 3G, half decent camera, web access, hotmail, MS exchange email, nice user interface, funky design. WiFi and GPS would be nice, as would HSDPA/UPA.

Any comments/ideas much appreciated +++

From your description, I think you need to go for the iPhone as that covers all of what you are looking for. Perhaps the camera is not as good as on some phones, but at 2MP it aint that bad tbh. No zoom or anything but then this is a phone and not a camera!?!

I got one on Friday and its the best thing I have ever owned tbh!

The Nokia E71 looks nice but I'm more likely to get work to get me one of those as a replacement for my current E61 +++

The iPhone would be almost a no-brainer apart from 2 things - I already have a ipod Touch (can I sync both that and an iPhone with my iTunes library?) and I'm not sure about texting on a iPhone, typing on my ipod touch is a mare +++

From what i hear the HTC touch diamond is slightly sluggish, and it doesnt have a QWERTY keyboard like other HTC products.

Im in the same boat and considering the same choices but its now between the Blackberry Bold and the HTC touch Pro for me, i just need to decide between them now

 thanks for your imputs gents - I took a punt on the HTC, initial impressions are good but its my first windwos mobile based phone so I haven't a clue where things are like how to tell if its connected to 3G or WiFi when at home...?

 haven't had a good go at it yet as I got it then went away for biz leaving the phone off at home for the number porting to go through +++

 ok, where do I start - the interface is sluggish, I'm constantly wondering what its doing as it seems to be busy doing stuff other than what I ask it to! But by far, and I mean far, is the abysmal battery life - fully charged in the morning its on its last legs by the evening and thats not exceptional heavy use, just a few calls and a little browsing. Its so bad I think there might actually be something wrong with it - going to call Orange tomorrow +++

 so, in short - avoid this handset at all costs +++

I didn't get on with mine too well when I first got it, but now - I think it's a great device.

I get my push email/diary etc. It plays all of music, and I love the ease of use. It just works. Downsides are battery is not great - it just about lasts me two working days. Also, it's a little large I guess.

iPhone, iPhone, iPhone! How many more times do you want me to say iPhone?!?! This is an absolutely amazing phone. I had the 2G version which I thought couldn't get any better, then I upgraded to the 3G version. How good it is just takes the biscuit. Buy one, trust me you will never regret it. As i'm sure many other owners of it on this forum will agree.

You receive MMS messages by clicking the link it sends you in a text, you enter your phone number and the 4 digit password the same text supplied you with, and up comes your media. On 3G this takes about 20 seconds to do the whole process, if on 2G the media takes slightly longer to load.

Word of warning though, if you now try an iPhone after buying the windows thing. You'll probably boot yourself in the balls for making the wrong decision.

You have to do that every time you receive a text message?

Nah, just everytime you receive a picture message. Normal texting is the best i've used on any phone. Very quick and it displays each text in a sort of conversation window between you and each recipient you've been texting, instead of having to trawl through 300 messages in your inbox.

Has anyone else upgraded to the new 3G iPhone? I think it's absolutely brilliant. Mobile web surfing is an absolute dream now. Just sold my 2G version for £350 on eBay with a Pay-And-Go simcard aswell, would advise anyone with their 2G version to do the same
