_Tone_
Hi Guys Had an error thrown up today which yielded next to no power and had to pull over. Fortunately after a full car turn off and back on it seemed to go. The car is an A4 2.0tdi (140) Multitronic. Does anyone know what the issue ight be realted to - ESP on ad flashing Glow Plugs? I am taking the car into dealer on Monday as it has come up 3 times today - not going to drive it until its been looked at - but thougt I'd ask here! kite
Check your brake lights, could be the brake light switch on the pedal has gone tits up
shark_90
Yep it could be.. could also be a throttle position sensor problem but if the car is driving then it probably isn't that.
_Tone_
Well the dealer called me back today and said a new wiring loom is required which will fix the issue (whatever that actually is!). Unfortunately I was in the porker and its a bit loud using a bluetooth headset so could not fully hear what was being said but apparently the loom is an updated one and that the fault is more common! Anyway when I get the car back I will hopefully get a more technical answer and let you know just in case someone on here gets the same issue. j1mmy
Do you have a technical answer fromt he garage regarding this, it's just my ESP light has been comming on for no reason, then 30 seconds to 1 minute later it goes off. Very strange. Did you have to pay for the new loom or did Audi?
cruiser647
Hi J1mmy, your error might just be the brake light switch. Your independant garage (VAG Specialist???) will know.
j1mmy
That's true, I remeber about 2 years ago it happened. Audi did a test and said it was the brake switch and if it came on permanently then they would replace it. For a charge... Will get them to test it again when it goes in. tidyfinance
I had this on my infamous A6 1.9tdi. The diagnosis on mine (for the 'limp home' mode) was a faulty throttle potentiometer???? My ESP light goes on and off occasionally also - Haven't had this investigated though! gurmit_takhar
Hi, I think I have the same problem. I have an Audi A4 but when driving the Glow Worm light was flashing and the ESP (Triangle) light came on. I lost power and had to switch of engine and restart for the lights to go out. Can someone please help ? I don't want to go to Audi dealer they will charge a lot of money. Many thanks, Gurmit.
shark_90
You will need to get the fault codes read to find out exactly where the fault lies.. what year is your car? Welcome to TSN
gurmit_takhar
The year of my car is 2002. Could the problem be the brake light switch ? I'm going to take my Audi to a Skoda garage today to see if they can check.
shark_90
Even if it was your brake light switch, I think if you pressed the accelerator it would cancel out the brake signal and still pull away. I think the loss of power and the flashing light is more likely to be a problem with the throttle potentiometer or the wiring to it.

Phil_S
your esp fault is probably just on as a knock on effect, eg in the cae of me i was getting an abs sensor fault but it also screwed with the esp, skoda garage should be able to read the fault code for you, or anyone with vag-com for that matter
SINGH
Could just need a clean, there is a guide on Audipages on how to get a ABS sensor out and clean it. I followed the guide and hey presto. The light went off on the A8. I will find the link and post it.
