richardmearman
Hi, I'v just recentlt purchased my new a3 quattro 170 (58) im looking to Re-map this car but nowhere can do it which i have asked so far, does anyone have any idea where can do this? i believe it's because audi have fiddled with the engine since the previous 170, even better if anyone has ever had this done to a 170 your opinions would be greatly appreciated!!! richardmearman
What tuning companies have you tried? I'v tried around 10 companies all of which seem to be very vague as to them doing a remap on this engine because of it being so new, do you have any idea which company could do it? We can then think of people not in that list I'v tried a few of which i can only remember a couple - DTUK - Angel tuning - Bluefin it's the new commonrail engine they don't seem to have anything for it yet. is there any companies you would reccomend? cheers
burble
They're a bit of a trek from you, but APS in Brackley are very well respected. I've used them several times (will be there tomorrow infact) and they're a great bunch of guys. There is also Revo Technik who have dealers dotted around the place. I've currently got a Revo remap on my R32 and had one on my TDI with very good results.

JonC
I have Revo Revo Technik | ECU Tuning & Engine Management Software (soon to be stage 2 ) which is simply superb; not sure if thety cater for your engine, though. You may want to try APR as well - Awesome GTI Store UK - VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda Performance & Styling

JonC
What hardware mods are required for stage 2? Highflow & downpipes, uprated fuel pump (stage 2 software specific to the fuel pump), uprated divertor valve such as Forge and a CAI, but that's optional as a panel filter such as the BMC I'm currently running, is fine. Taking it a stage further, there's a larger front-mounted intercooler that can be fitted and repositioning of the divertor valve along with complete K04 turbo upgrades (that's used in the ED30 and S3) utilising a S3 components. If you're going to upgrade your turbo, you may as well go for an aftermarket one. Where does one stop!? Very addictive stuff this modding....

JonC
It certainly is addictive, but fun.How much power and torques do you get from a stage 2 Jon? Power will be up by around 10/15%, so probably around 280bhp and torques in the region of 310/320 I would estimate.

I would think you'll be nearer 250-260BHP max, 280BHP seems a bit optimistic. My GTI had REVO stage 2 with a full Supersprint and was around the 240-250 mark! I haven't put my car on a rolling road as yet, but am confident I easily have 240/250bhp with the stage 1 + Milltek, so disagree with you. Revo Stage 2 will definately produce more than what you are suggesting.

One thing that I haven't taken into account is that the Golf GTI is the fastest car in the world....... When you have some proper evidence, let me know. JonC
I look forward to seeing your resultsEnjoy I know your desperate to see the dyno results come back to a mere 240/250bhp, but what I don't understand is why, and why would it bother you so much to get so patronising about the whole matter. Strange . As you say, I'll keep you posted.

As you say, I'll keep you posted. I think you've read me completely wrong. Re-read what Ive put, I have said I think you will more than likely see 250-260BHP, and the reason that I said this was I had a GOLF GTI, the same as yours, two years ago, with similar mods and only saw about 250BHP on the rollers. I am speaking from experience from my car, you seem to be plucking the figures from thin air. I am not being patronising just realistic, its a shame you don't see it this way. Good luck, with your car, they are a fantastic all rounder, and like you've already done, they work so much better with a map exhaust etc.
Mook
Jon, do you have the Milltek and the Revo Stage 2, or have you stuck a bigger turbo and intercooler on it?
rozzerfodder
Richard, I am currently waiting for APS to remap my Scirocco, they are currently unable to write to the ECU on these latest generation VAg group cars as they are clamped down differently. They do however expect to have the ability anyday now as some super clever guy has written software to do it and will be making it available to the market. I would suspect that your Audi fits into this category hence why the tuners you have approached cannot help at this stage. JonCowling, I was there when Oli had his car RR'd along with a couple of other GTi's, some wuth Full Millteks, custom remaps etc so the full stage 2. I also had a full stage 2 GTi and I have not seen evidence of GTI's with the K03 turbos making those figures. What you do get though is a very nice drive with a decent bit more power that is more than obvious. Do also bear in mind that some RR's are a tad generous with their outputs, so I guess the best measure there is the difference before and after remapping to see the "overall gain"
JonC
Jon, do you have the Milltek and the Revo Stage 2, or have you stuck a bigger turbo and intercooler on it? Neither. Yet. The bigger turbo unit and intercooler would take the car into awesome territory alongside all the other hardware and stage 2 software. Of course, its budget allowing. I'm budgeting £1500-£2000 to eek the extra power. The full turbo Milltek and uprated fuel pump with specific stage 2 software will get me the extra power I crave but a bigger turbo and FMIC will blow the budget I fear. Any thoughts?
