Princess Jessie
hi guys.. Have just taken delivery of my new A4...SE TDI 2.0 and loving it!! But have a few questions that perhaps someone has the answer to? I have the Sat Nav System Plus... does anyone know if there is a way to mute intantaneously the sat nav? I know that in set up i can set it to mute if a call comes thru etc but there are times when i only really want to be able to hear it as i approach where i am going to and dont want to listen to it throughout the whole journey.Am sure there must be a way but havent figured it out yet and wondered if anyone else had?! 2. the other query i had was in connection with the wing mirrors! I have the comfort pack on the car so wing mirrors electrically fold heat and dim etc... but i wondered if anyone knows if there is a setting that one can put in to the MMI so that when reverse gear is selected the nearside wing mirror automatically tilts downwards to be able to see the kerbside. I had that feature on my Beemer and it was really useful when parking. Apart from that it is an amazing car!!! Jessie
Dustoir
I'm not sure about the sat nav query, but I know on my A5 (MMI High) the nearside door mirror tilts down. All you need to do, is leave the nearside mirror selected on the mirror controls. So leave it to the left, and when reverse gear is selected, it tilts down automatically and then returns afterwards. It's as simple as that.

Only if you have the seat memory option.
stig414
RE Sat Nav. If you have the volume set to off, when you want to hear the next commmand, can you not press the volume button on the wheel? Works that way on the A6
Teutonic_Tamer
I presume this is the very latest "B8" model A4. Very nice. Enjoy. hi guys.. OK, I think those come with the MMI system, rather than the RNS-E. (MMI is basically separate components, all controled by a "master control interface", and RNS-E is an "all-in-one" self contained unit). Anyway, in the set-up options for the navigation voice instructions, some systems have three options - "on", "auto", and "off". The "on" setting usually gives every voice instruction, the "off" is hopefully self explanatory , but the "auto" usually gives just the selective 'important' voice instructions - so maybe try the "auto" setting. Furthermore, if there is a "volume setup" type menu screen, then if there is an option for something like "navigation min volume", set this to the minimum or zero. Then when drving, using the normal nav screens, and a voice instruction sounds, set your 'desired' volume with the normal rotary volume control. Then try the "mute" button for any voice instructions you wish to subsequently cancel. HTH

Chav
you can control the voice manually.... set voice nav to off. then when you want to hear an instruction, eg you're unsure of way to proceed, press the volume button on the steering wheel-and next instruction is spoken. Dustoir
If you have the multi-function steering wheel, you can actually adjust the Nav volume (RH thumbwheel) when she is talking, so in theory you could turn it down to nothing or just really low... Pressing the RH thumbwheel, repeats the last Nav command, so you could press it and then adjust the wheel, if you'd turned the volume down to nothing, and needed to get her back.
