wyliss
Thought I'd post up as I dont think I have been on here since Christmas ! My car hasnt seen a mitt since early November and its amazing how bad a car can appear when its dirty, really dirty. My wheels are usually gleaming and so too is the car but in this weather whats the point?. I bought some Bilt Hamber Auto foam before Christmas in prep for this year so I am looking forward to that. So, do we have any new products out there which are going to pile our garage shelves and take money from our banks even though we dont need to? LOL Anyway Happy New Year guys and here's to some better weather !
wyliss
It is quiet around, not one reply !. Well, I used the Bilt Hamber AF today and I can say this is excellent stuff. The cleaning power is superb if you are short on time and cant do a 2BW. I also used the Chemical Guys Miracle Dryer which is superb, well recommended. Yes the FK 425 is the spray and nice stuff it is too, well recommended. Some how though I still really like the Clearkote Quikshine too !. If you need a new towel the CG one is the baby to go for. I am just laughing to myself re your comment on the Q7, but to be honest these towels would have it done in say 10-15 mins.
Dave
I have loads of towels... I have one in particular that is my fav, but i'll be damned if i can find another one. I really don't get on with the waffle weave.. actually i hate them with a passion.. might use them on glass but nothing else. I also have a miracle dryer which is ok, but my favorite isn' as big.. it's cotton but seems to have an inner core that takes the water away.. any ideas!
wyliss
Is it possibly a Sonus towel? Have a look at the towels in Elite Car Care and also Polished Bliss. I got some Blackfire Tre Gel from PB and it rocks. It gives a nice appearance and lasts a good few weeks.

Tarmac_Terrorist
This weather is certainly not good for those who endeavour to keep a clean car. I can't believe how dirty my company car has got in just 3 days. You'd think it hadn't been washed for months! So far, since the summer, I have washed my daily driver weekly without fail and applied QD afterwards for some extra bling. There have been days when I have had a job standing upright trying to dry the car due to ice forming underfoot! I have some interesting new products and polisher to try when the weather improves. I'm looking forward to some sunny spring days when you can get all the detailing kit out, be assured of a dry day and feel some warm sunshine on your back whilst working. I actually find it a bit thereputic when the conditions are right!
_Tone_
Hi Guys Whilst the weather is so wet - I usually just wash and allow to dry naturally, is there anything you can spray on the car to aid a non streak finish? I have soft water in the house so this helps but if I didnt have softened water what could one use. Thanks Tone
wyliss
I'm considering one of these Tone for a 0ppm flood rinse: Mixed bed DI resin for pure window cleaning in UK The water is really clean from one of these so does not necessitate towel drying and it should leave the car mark' free. _Tone_
Blimey - some serious cleaning aids in that - do you think rainwater into one of them Vessels is a problem? I would use a filter so that the rainwater was clean and it stops other cr@p getting into the tank, then run a hose from the tank to the car to final rinse! How long will the resin in the tank last for? Cheers Tone

You shouldent get any marring and a get a bit of extra bling to the car and a you wont get the water spots!

You shouldent get any marring and a get a bit of extra bling to the car and a you wont get the water spots! Hi Geoff, Long time no speak, hope all is ok. Hoping for some nicer weather soon, I may even try and post some pics up. Unsure how to at the mo. Anyway, I washed mine last week and I use some FK 425 QD along with the Chem Guys miracle dryer, all I can say is superb. The towel is first class and the QD is absolutely spot on. Well recommended ! steelwind101
Hi dibbs Im glad it all working out for you! You probably need to upload your photo to a site like photobucket.com it will automatically generate the computer code for you under each uploaded photo so they will show up on here! I have not been on here as much recently as i have been away, im due back in the UK on friday morning and then i need to sort out my cars no doubt! I am getting some photos done of the car - assuming I wash before I get to location, if I then travel to another location, is using the QD ok to clear any transit dirt? JonC
I am getting some photos done of the car - assuming I wash before I get to location, if I then travel to another location, is using the QD ok to clear any transit dirt? I wouldn't; too high risk of damaging the paintwork when you towel off. If the shoot isn't far from the initial pre-shoot wash and the weather remains good, I'd say you're better off jet washing down the car after the short journey, QD'ing followed by the microfibre towel. If you're picking up dirt, spray, road grime, salt and the like en-route, you're better off jet washing, mitt-washing, QD and drying before the shoot, otherwise your paintwork won't thank you for it. wyliss
Totally agree with Jon here. You dont want to travel distance, pick dirt/grime up and then try and clean it off with QD. Your paintwork will more than likely exhibit swirling.
davyk31
Never actually used a QD when drying. So do you just spray it all the over when its wet and then dry off with a towel. Currently I just dry off with the towel without any QD, whats the advantage of using the QD at this stage?
steelwind101
Hi! The QD will help disperse some of the water, the QD also boosts shine and protection which is a good thing! QD's often work as waterless washes, using them at the last stage of washing when drying means that you get some added lubicity between your drying towel and the paintwork which reduces micromarring. The QD will also encapuslate any small bits of dirt that seem out in the final rinse or happen to fall on the car when your drying. Grit from a nearby road, pollen etc. Geoff
davyk31
Thanks for that. I have only ever used the QD for a waterless wash, could never really see the point of using it for drying but will give it a go for sure. After spending 12 hours on the X5 I would like to retain that finish for as long as possible!!
ahaydock
Using QD whilst drying is a good habit IMO. Megs LT is very good at this but I prefer Dodo Time to Dry as a Drying Aid.
