I am looking to upgrade exhaust for my B6 S4 Cabrio and will buy Milltek as Audi dealer sale and installation is available. I plan to install in two stages. First is the catbacks (this month) and then the downpipe next year. Does anyone know if the non-resonated catbacks are overbearingly loud with the stock downpipe? What about after I purchase the Milltek downpipe? I do not want to spend my money for a non-beefy upgrade that I am afraid the resonated will be, but also don't want the neighbors to hear me three blocks away.

Biased post :

Buy my catbacks and then decide what else you want to do!

I'd definately have the full system in preferance to a remap. Together they're fine but I'm not remap without. Did you get the sport cats as well?

I found the full system works excellantly. Are you just talking about from a noise point of view? If so then the downpipes etc add to the sound but the main difference is definately the rear section.

Was yours also a B6 S4?

It's the perception thing that I found wierd with my S4. Coz the power is so continous and smooth, it's really hard for the "butt dyno" to get a true feel.

I wasn't sure the car was really performing .... until I went side by side with another car I knew the performance of. ;)

That's why people who normally drive a turbo car like a Scooby or an Evo think that an S4 or RS4 are slow, they are so used to the "kick" as turbo boost arrives that the continuous linear power delivery of our cars makes them think they are slow. Shows how easily our senses are fooled...

  • 3 weeks later...

I had the same question as you regarding what to get for the milteks.

Ended up with the res cat back, plus sports cats and AMD remap.

Sounded very loud at first but it soon beds down and the noise quittens down - as scotty said any loader and it would annoy on the motorway. now the sound is to die for.

deffo noticed a huge difference in performace going from stok to full millteks and remapp - may be due to the different remap i have but i now get a surge of torch around 2,500 - 3,000 rpm - alost feels like a turbo cutting in.

Oh did i mention the sound is to die for :)

I do get rattle on my S4 - not sure what cuases it though as it stops after the egine has warmed up - dont believe its the tenshiners as the sound isnt in the actual engine - just sounds like something is lose like a cover.
