Wizbit
I have a Nokia 5800 XM and although i can pair the phone to my A8 just fine, i can't get the contacts downloaded to the car. I have tried installing the Nokia 810 contacts download application, but that won't even install to the phone. I then read that the Nokia 616 contacts download application will work, but it doesn't for me. It installs ok and i even deleted the existing pairing between the car and the phone before running this application, but i still get no joy. The application just sits there saying 'processing...' but i never get the contacts appearing in the MMI. Any help or suggestions? It's driving me crazy! craigyb
My 5800 and Nokia 616 software works ok in SAP mode on the A8, your A8 is too old to have SAP and I guess your MMI software is also too old to work correctly with the 5800. You said your car was updated by Audi after a service? my guess is it wasn't. Press CAR , then VERSION to get the version number or if it is not there, then maybe they have. It will be under SETUP / SETTINGS / VERSION
Wizbit
It says my software version is: D3-HU 21.2.0 0534 Its a 2006 A8 Does this mean anything to you?
craigyb
Yes it means it 2 years old, the latest software is 5570 which updates the phone system to 1130 which will probably fix your issues.
Wizbit
oh great, so they didn't update the firmware as promised. I specifically asked for them to do this and they said it had been done as part of the service

In addition to what Craig said, it may be useful to know that when I was unable to install 810 download manager on my Nokia 6220 classic, I found that the Nokia 500 Auto Navigation Car Contacts Application installed and worked fine. My MMI sw is at 5150 BTW.
Wizbit
Cheers for the info guys. It looks like i need my MMI software updating before this will work. I phoned the dealer today about this and they assured me that the latest software had been put on when it was serviced. Clearly it wasn't, so how do i get them to admit that it isn't the latest when they reckon it is? I would have expected the main dealer to know this... SINGH
If your new to Audi ownership, your going to have to get used to how little Audi dealers know!Try and be more factual with them, tell them the curent version number you have and tell them it should be the new one Craig said, might help. Wizbit
I have found the latest software here: Audi MMI firmware update 55.7.0 - Gps Underground Forums Rather than waste my time arguing with the dealer, i might simply install this myself. Any things i need to know before attempting this? Any particluar order for doing this, or things to be aware of? It sounds simple enough... Wizbit
So i took the plunge and upgraded the car software myself to version 5570 and i now see my phone contacts in the MMI display, albeit the wrong way round (last name first and first name last)... anyone know how to swap this around? However... i appear to have lost some of the MMI features in the car setup menu. I don't have the battery level anymore and i don't have the menu for setting up the instrument cluster (for the speed warning and on board computer setup) anymore... is this normal or did something fail to install properly? craigyb
That's normal, you will need VAG COM to fix these
Wizbit
That's normal, you will need VAG COM to fix these I see... is it just a case of re-enabling these with VAG COM, or is it more involved than that? I think i know a local independent garage who has VAG COM...
Wizbit
My car was in at Audi today for some warranty work, and i mentioned to them that i don't have these menu options. I didn't tell them that i had updated the software myself and basically pleaded ignorance and said i know someone else with an A8 and he has these menu options so how come i don't. They said that they could see that my car was recently updated with the latest MMI software and that these features were not available anymore with this latest software. Is that true? It sounds like they didn't know how to fix it to me...? Craigyb - are you ever down in the Northampton area on your travels? If so, i might want to meet up with you to sort this out for me. I quite fancy the AMI iPod upgrade you do as well...
craigyb
So they are saying that the instrument cluster options are no longer available? Strange as I have just installed the new MMI 3 from 2009 and that has the instrument cluster.
Wizbit
yes that's what they are saying... Can you fix this for me?

Wizbit
Can anybody with VAG-COM knowledge confirm that this is the correct sequence to make the battery meter reappear? Controller 07, Adaptation 10, Channel 02, Add 32 to the value and your battery meter will reappear. If so, can anybody also give me the sequence for the instrument cluster? craigyb
You need to enable the secret menu Controller 07, Adaptation 10, Channel 08 set to 1 Reset the MMI Press SETUP & CAR Go to DIAG On the second option down you can select BOARDCOMPUTER Save that option Reset the MMI
