RamZ
Hi people! Hope ya all well! Ive been looking for some 18" rs4 wheels for my s3, only problem is that the genuine wheels that fit are 5x112 unless I find the RSTT wheels which are 5x100. As you all may know finding genuine 18" rs4 for a s3 is difficult (at least for me it is) any how can someone fill me in one the benifits of having genuine wheels over replicas and vice versa? Is there any performance diffrence between the two? Reason I say this is because i know the genuine wheels are much lighter compared to replicas, but is this noticable? JonC
From my understanding of replicas, the quality just isn't there. I can tell the difference with genuine 18" GTI alloys compared to the replicas. The material used is generally of poorer quality and they tend to be heavier as a result. Personally, I wouldn't have replicas on my car, but that's just my preference. There's many who do and have no problem with them
davidhodgkinson
Most of the rstt replicas are a slightly different shape to the originals, I managed to find a good priced set of originals. Personally I'd always pay the little bit more an original set cost.
Paul
Firstly you will never get genuine "RS4" alloys for the 8L S3, as they specifically only fit the RS4. Not just in bolt patternt (pcd) but in offset too (ET) The only genuine wheels you can get are the Audi 9 spoke, (nicknamed RSTT) style. Which look almost identicle to the RS4 versions, but the inner bead continues around the spokes, where as the Genuine RS4 items, fade out to the middle of the wheel. Genuine brand spanking new RSTT wheels as fitted to my car from factory are circa £450 each, if you had to source a new one from Audi. I personally have never tried replica's, but would always opt for the genuine items where possible.
Little Si
Personally, I wouldn't buy replicas unless I could be sure of the quality, correct offset and hard wearing finish. About 4 years ago, i bought an immaculate second hand set with excellent tyres for £850 with almost new michelin tyres, but replicas can be had for much less than this. Awesome are selling replicas which look very good, but I have no idea how good they are. See Awesome > S-Line Replicas With Tyres
