aj84
Hi all, Got another mate with an Audi A4 (Y Reg/2001) who potentially has issue with his gearbox. Not plugged into the Vagcom as of yet until tomorrow however I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on it? from idle to 2000 revs, no problem, engine sounds great etc... Get to/just under 2000 revs, and the car is thinking on what to do (whether to change gear etc). It makes a groaning sound which changes pitch slightly as if you're reving in idle etc It goes away once you pass the 2000 revs We've tested that in idle while in N or P, it does >not< make this sound at 2000 revs so it's gearbox related potentially. Car's done about 105000 miles Any thoughts would be great :-)
PetrolDave
Knowing what the engine is, and what type of gearbox it is would help...

Audi32
Hi Could it be the catalytic converter. My neighbour had a similar issue on his 2.8 quattro. Both cats had to be replaced and issue is gone Thanks Jay
PetrolDave
I'd be very suspicious of a multitronic gearbox that has done 105,000 miles - they don't have the best reputation for reliability.
