bircham
Hi, another wheel question I'm afraid, I am looking for a set of wheels to replace the standard competition(?) type 17" wheels on my 3.7 SE. I was thinking about a set of RS6s but the more I see RS4s and final edition wheels the more I like the 9 spoke look. These wheels on ebay are 18", 8J, 33 offset with semi-decent tyres. Would they fit. Oh, and what is the recommended tyre size to keep the rolling circumference the same? GENUINE AUDI RS4,TT 18" ALLOY WHEELS AND TYRES on eBay (end time 27-Sep-09 12:00:08 BST) Thanks for the help, Jon. Oh, and Audipartner's (thanks Audipartner!) front grille that he sent me looks fab on the car - Now I just have to find the fog light grille for the passenger side! AudiPartner
Not sure on the spec of A8 wheels, but I would have thought if they fit a Golf, the won't fit your '8. Which personally I think is a good thing, as 18" RS4/TT's would look too small on your car I think. Too many spokes. I think wheels like this need to be big, hence why the Final editions look so bad arse!! You may get away with 18" RS6 replica's, but I would step it up to 19's if poss. Then you could get genuine ones too - if they fit. If you want 18's I would go S8/Avus. And I'm not just saying that as that's what I have either - they just suit the car. My friend went from your wheels to my wheels on his 98 A8 and it took 5 years off the car I swear. Amazing difference. Glad you got the grille sorted. You're welcome! A8_Tony
I agree with Audipartner. The wheels in your link are waaaayyyyy too small. That style of wheel in 18" wouldn't look right on an '8. If you like the style, then find a set of 20's, you'll not be disappointed and they seriously suit the car. Moving up to 19's would be the better option, and it gives you far more wheels to choose from. But 20's will fill the arches so much better. I'd suggest holding out for 20" S-lines, or look at other 19/20" options Oh, for 18" rims you'll need tyres of 245/45 size Edited September 26, 2009 by A8_Tony
bircham
Thanks for the info. I saw a golf today with 18 rs4s and thought they were 17s. I think I will have to see about 19s or 20s. What three are needed for the two sizes? Jon

A8_Tony
They look the doggies doodahs in black :D  You'd need 255/35 tyres for the 20's, not sure for the 19s but would guess 245/40 would be the route to go
roberto1954
both sets are 20 inch the d3's came with 275-35-20 is it the d2's that require 255? tony?
A8_Tony
yeah, the D2's were 255. They're 8.5 inches wide on the D2's, maybe 9.5 on the D3. 275's will fit on the rear of a D2 without issue, but may scrub on the front
bircham
I've already spotted those wheels = they look fantastic! I'm sure that I can't afford them though. Out of interest how much are the silver wheels? PM me with price mand I'll see. It proibably depends if anyone would be willing to buy my old 17" stock wheels. (Ebay?) They have 4 good pirelli Pzero tyres on them but they are not the most exciting wheels to look at really. Jon

Hi there, I had the exact same wheels you have on your car and I brought some 19’’ MTM rep’s which were cool but did not like the look of them on, and luckily AP found me some S8 face lift wheels to go on my car and as he said it took year off it! S8 fl wheels are the way to go!

I have D3 20 X 9 275 35 20s on the front of the S8 and they don't scrub. Also the ride is noticeably smoother then these on than with the original S8 Avus 18s.
