Hello, I'm new here and I just wanted to let you know that there already is a supercharger kit for the Audi A8/S8. Before my BMW I had a Audi A8 D2 4.2, and I also was looking for a supercharger and I found one after a search that took me over a year;)

Here is the link to the site if people would be interested.

MotoDyne - Performance Technologies LLC -- Audi 4.2L V8

And Bart good luck with your system.

hello boys!!dont worry!I live in England and work here as well. I was born in Poland and moved here years ago hence the e-mail address I was using since day one.

I will have to look at the price figures. We are planning to use ROTREX supercharger due to its servicing costs which are next to none and reliability.

Brackets will be all CNCd and I can show you lads a bike kit for a hayabusa which is astonishing.

Reliability wise i can not predict anything but was hoping to try 0.9 bar so shuldn't really be a major concern.

If any of you would be interested please ither contact me or give me a shout on forum and I shall provide with more details.

Regards,

bart

We are planning to lower the compresion ratio, but on the other hand we can alter the gearing of the supercharger to have it blowing 0.5 - 0.6 bar. But my goal was to try it with the engine in a standard trim so the conversion can be done the most convenient way. I was hopeing to get around 35%power hike.

I will try to make some rough calculations as to materials used tomorrow and give sort of price range.

What charger are you going to use, centrifugal or screw/roots? I have a Powerdyne BD11 which I've been planning to put on for quite some time. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of space for a big centrifugal under there, even with a stepper for the belt. The positive displacement route seems quite a lot simpler.

Hi Bart,

I'm very interested in this S8 Supercharger project you're working on - I've been intending to get one done for ages but I haven't managed to find a convincing solution yet.

I've already had my D2 S8 40V souped up from 360 to 425 with a combination of full-length custom sports exhaust, de-cat, induction and remap - but I think I've reached the 'end of the road' with normal aspiration, hence the intention to add a bit more 'pep' to the old girl with a blower.

Have you got any estimated figures since your last post 10 days ago, please?

Many thanks,

Jes.

What induction kit and remap have you got? How do you know about the 425, do you have a RR graph? cheers

bb-automobiltechnik.de, one of the oldest and best german tuners of the audi 4.2, in the same class as abt-sportsline.de, mtm, and hohenester-sport.de, used to offer more than 425hp power kits when our d2 s8's first came out.

they had cams from schrick (i believe)and their own exhaust along with porting and polishing of the heads. here is their link ,sadly no cams or exhaust listed now.

G'day...I supercharged my 4.2 A8 D2 engine...running at 0.9 bar (~12psi). If you with run 7/8 psi and the correct supercharger you should expect around 100KW extra at the wheels plus around a 40%=50% increase in torque....I used a Lysholm 2300AX and I finished up with 233kw at the wheels and approx 550NM. Originally my A8 had 138KW at the wheels and 400NM. I still hit 90% of my torque at around 3200rpm. Regs, Oscar

here's some more audi 4.2 supercharger pics to get ideas from,

the one-off apr that didn't go into production because it would have been to costly for the market to bear(and still make a profit) and was breaking rods at 8psi of boost in an 079 block s4 v8, according to the man from apr.

a rare centrifugal procharger on an early 4.2, i'm trying to copy this header design for the my d2 as it is very tight around the engine in the d2.

and an a8 d2 motodyne with stainless headers from the land down under.

looks like he is here online now(above post) and hope he will give us some more pics, and first hand info of a d2 v8 install, especially header design. john
