Would really appreciate some advice - IE/Java Problems

Base OS XP Pro SP3; no recent change in software/hardware:

Since last week I have notice 2 problems that has started at the same time:

1) When accessing my work citrix logonpoint in IE, it goes into a loop trying to recover the tab; occassionally it will load into the web page sometimes I click "try to reload" a few times and sometimes it fails completely. I think it is EPA Factory that is causing it to do this as in FF EPA does not run by default and the page works fine

2) More importantly I am trying to load a Sun App called CRIS within a Citrix session; the citrix bit seems to work fine as I can open other apps but for CRIS it goes through the motions loading my personal preferences etc but then when it is supposed to start I see this screen:

attachment.php?attachmentid=38897&stc=1&d=1271326452

and when I click on details it says:

attachment.php?attachmentid=38898&stc=1&d=1271326452

I have asked other colleagues at Work. IT Helpdesk are very sympathetic but cannot get this error; 3 out of 14 other colleague get is [started same time].

I have also tried loading this in:

WIn7 on a virtual machine - don't get prob 1 but still do #2

Vista on a laptop - ditto

different pc on a different ISP on a different exchange - ditto

I am stumped and it is really annoying! Google offers no clues.

I have reset IT to defaults [no difference].

Java console is uptodate on my machine as well

Any ideas?

waylander - can you go to this page

Java Tester - What Version of Java Are You Running?

and show us what it says?

Thanks - I will do this tonight when I get home. I did go to control panel Java Console and delete the temporary files and then click update but was told I had the latest version.

In IE Tools/Advanced it mentions 1.6 IIRC

I asked IT if I could manually install the JRE it is trying to download but was told this was not possible as it is published on the published on the citrix server so I don't have permission.

also has citrix ver changed? maybe problem with citrix as most people have jre 1.3 or higher....

No it hasn't but I tried to eliminate this as an option by updating to the latest version of Xenapps (I did this in the Virtual machine) and got the same error.

The other point is that 11 of the other colleagues have tried it out for me don't get this problem [but 2 others do]

might be vpn bug in latest citrix.

may be worth checking out the possibility. ask those who have it working what citrix ver they're running and on what os.

mac users will have a lower version installed of citrix so may well work on a mac in this case!!

Personally I find if JAVA messes up then completely removing and re-installing is the way to go.

JAVA I mean, not the whole machine.

I'll try that [got nothing to lose and I will look to blitz this install for Win7 soon anyway!] but shouldn't really be the root cause should it if the problem is also hapenning in Virtual Machine Win7 x64 with the only thing I have installed is the latest Xenapps/Citrix?

I have tried it on my laptop as well (did not install the latst Citrix on that) and that is running the same version of Citrix as most others.

I don't think it is Citrix because the departmental lead couldn't get the citrix portal working on my new machine with Win 7 so I talked him through how to do that by using the latest Citrix ver and he reports that everything is working fine.

As I say other apps (if you look at the 2nd pic the lowest screen is a login for Centricity which is also loaded via the portal)
