bazza_g
Great day out at Silverstone on Sunday – started off over at BRDC clubhouse for breakfast, great to see S. Moss up and about after his accident – he’s back travelling and racing again in the next couple of weeks - amazing recovery for someone of any age, let alone a guy in his 80's. Watched some support race action including the Porsche Supercup over at the Farm and headed down to the pits for the the pitlane walkabout with a quick trip into Redbull garage – the sound of the engine starting still makes me jump and the rev testing is enough to make your ears bleed especially in a pretty cramped garage environment. Coffee time followed and before you know it’s time for the race to start – watched it from a combination of the BRDC grand stand and their clubhouse roof – the new layout brings the cars a few metres closer to the grandstand and the difference in the noise is incredible – so, so loud! Great drive from Button, I missed how he got behind Rosberg but seems he got a drive through penalty? ....loved Webber’s “not bad for a number 2” comment after taking the chequered flag! Much celebration at the end of the race – caught up with some people from RedBull, had a great Sunday lunch before leaving the circuit – great to drive the wrong way down the A43 but still got caught in a load of traffic heading to the M40 and then more on the M40… Spotted – Prince Michael of Kent walked past with Damon Hill, Niki Lauda doing interviews, Ronnie-o’Sullivan texting instead of watching the race, fastest man in the world Wing Commander Andy Green from the Thrust/Bloodhound projects, Jake Humphreys and his fecking ipad, Nico Rosberg wandering around looking confused, pair of Veyron’s with Bug I and Bug II number plates, the red arrows being brilliant as ever. We stopped in Beaconsfield on the way home to watch the World Cup Final – local and fellow GTR owner Vernon Kay had the same idea, think most of the women in the pub were looking at him rather than the game Few pics from the day Edited July 13, 2010 by bazza_g
Cuprabob
Great pictures. Only guy to get a Drive Through penalty was Alonso. Rosberg was in front of Button based on speed+++

NewNiceMrMe
I think that is one of the prettiest Mercedes ever made. Shame it is so expensive. I've had both of the Santander girls.

NewNiceMrMe
Yes, but I think that much like the original Gullwing they should only be made available in silver. Or maybe black. Unless they want to give me one for nothing, in which case I'll take it in lime green with pink spots.

Mook
Still stickered up, Baz...? Did they shut the A43 in one direction to get people to the track on an express route? Special pass?
bazza_g
Still stickered up, Baz...? Did they shut the A43 in one direction to get people to the track on an express route? Special pass? yup, still some stickers (just the centre stripes) left on from Le Mans, think they will stay on for a while! In the morning both sides of the A43 head into the circuit and in the evening both sides of the carraigeway are used to leave. BRDC carpark pass get you in perfectly on the fast track side but leaving, although improved, you still hit traffic when they merge back to normal nearer the M40 Edited July 14, 2010 by bazza_g
