The VW Golf R32 IV may be an old model but there's no shortage of tuners willing to step up to the challenge and mod the hot hatch like there's no tomorrow. The latest tuning proposal for the Golf R32 IV comes via German specialist MTE in the military-theme wrapped R32 BiTurbo2.

The stock R32's 3.2-litre V6 makes 241bhp and 320Nm / 236 lb-ft, but thanks to a series of modifications including -but not limited to- a pair of Garrett turbochargers with intercoolers, a custom exhaust system, recalibrated ECU, new pistons and cylinder heads, output has been lifted to 790HP and 1,200Nm / 885 lb-ft. That's 50HP more than MTE's previous Golf R32 IV BiTurbo1.

Thanks to these modifications, the tuner claims that the BiTurbo2 now runs the quarter mile in 10,7 seconds at 216km/h or 134mph.

The car also gets a revised transmission as well as new suspension bits and a high-performance braking system, while it rides on 18-inch wheels shod in semi-slick tires.

Crazy power, wonder how long it will be before it went pop!

Would still spend my money with HGP, been well known for a long time with good history. This max application in the UK in single turbo form is about 500bhp.

 surely 790HP and 1,200Nm / 885 lb-ft should get you into the 9's or at least very low 10's?

I would imagine that gearing would be an issue assuming they still have the manual 6 speed box, - they may upgeared it (in fact remebering how low first was they MUST have upgeared it) but the ratios etc. could all still be spaced more for an NA car than twin turbos ?

With bikes it is not so tricky to get the gearing right as can change sprockets & tend to have drag race type ratios anyway with a sequential box as standard so generally you just gear them to peak at the 1/4 but cars are more difficult - the proper drag bikes have specialised gearboxes that allow you to engage at WOT etc. so really depends if they built this as a drag racer or as a "street/show" car I guess (or of course Mook's suggestion is another possibility...)

spot on, you have to change twice to get to 60 if i remember, three times to 100?
