Booster
Ours certainly have! Hackney carriage from the station automatically adds £2 to the meter before you move anywhere. Local taxi firm used to be a fiver into town now it's £7.
NewNiceMrMe
I remember the days when I used to fill up with Shell Optimax and Millers Octane booster for my Audi S3, need that added extra for the Revo SPS3 :DIt was something like 85p per litre.... back in 2001. Ahhh them were the days...... Riz :D I remember paying £1.70 a gallon and talking to mates about how it was going to be £2 soon and how bad that'd be... (1988-89 or thereabouts). I'm pretty sure I recall it being £1.55 a gallon too. I certainly remember the £1.70 conversation because I can't recall how it happened but a fight broke out about it and we got thrown out of a nightclub. Cockney Boy
In 1989 it would cost £9.00 to fill up my MK1 Fiesta and it had a 7 Gallon Tank lol. A friend off mine just got his hands on a 3.0Lt Ranger Rover, it cost £139 to fill up OUCH!!!!
m4ttm4son
I now commute to work by train instead of car. Over the new year the fare for my journey has been increased by 11.5%. I moved house so have to get the train as driving just isn't viable time-wise, where's the incentive for others to make the switch to the so-called greener transport? I've made a saving of over £1700.00 by getting my annual ticket before Christmas. Just have to find that extra by next Christmas
cruiser647
11.5%! Bloody hell! Hope that's not just to get to the heart of London?
m4ttm4son
To London on High Speed 1 and includes Travelcard all zones. I'm not sure how much the Travelcard prices have changed this year. So far, it has been late twice out of the two journeys into work so far this year.
Hopsta
Mines gone up by 8%, north Kent to London, no tubes. The HS1 is another £1700 I think now, almost double my normal ticket, shocking difference and not worth it for me

That's hideous. And another £1700 for a faster one?
steelwind101
Luckily enough a major client of mine offers me a parking space in the city. I ditched the tube years ago and now im CC free too with Prius. Its a pretty easy drop in to the city as well once your past the "outer" London areas. They really need to drop the price of public transport, IMO atleast.
shao_khan
Season ticket for me is 8.2% increase and I can see where the extra fares are spent ..... NOT. I also saw a forecourt today with Diesel at 139.9p/l My local is 132.9 and owner recons he'll be foreced to have prices at 140p/l by easter. TP27
Unleaded here in Edinburgh can be bought at 121.9p (Shell "normal" not V-Power) - best I've seen since the Duty and VAT hike !!
m4ttm4son
South Eastern are shockingly bad sometimes. My train was on time this morning and my train home is usually consistently on time, but I've heard bad things the slightly earlier train. One woman I spoke to has a dossier of cancelled and late trains she has had to put up with over the past year that she's putting to South Eastern for answering. It will be interesting to see what they will be allowed to rise the fares by next year. Is the fuel duty already set to rise again this year? I'm pretty sure it was the Tories that suggested the idea of duty rising and falling to keep a constant fuel price. I imagine they forgotten this one now. To be fair, there really is only so much they can play about with - with regard fuel duty. It's the market bods playing with the price of oil and the $ rates that make the major moves with regard pricing. Scrap that and then they can have a constant. I'm pretty sure it was the Tories that suggested the idea of duty rising and falling to keep a constant fuel price. I imagine they forgotten this one now. I thought I heard something about this on the news this morning, Cameron has asked someone to look at changing the structure of fuel duty and it's relation to oil prices. SO they're looking at it but whether they do anything with it or not is another matter. How does it work currently? Because presumably if it's going to do the government out of money they're not likely to change it too much.
DHA
Not a commuter on trains, but I take the train up to the football. Last night I was shocked to see a 90p rise compared to before Christmas. An extra 2p per minute for the journey. 11% price rise......
eldavo69
I filled up at Shell yesterday, £124.9 for regular diesel, about what it was before Xmas.
Maxyboy
131.9 per litre of diesel here. It's getting to the stage that I need to stop looking for a weekend car and just stick with the company motor. I must be getting old and sensible. Booster
£126.9 today. £76.40 to fill the A5. It was down to 10 miles on the range computer but it will soon be over £80 to fill it!!
Cuprabob
As I understand it fuel duty is due to increase again in April by 1p plus inflation. When the oil price goes up the Government gets a double windfall, they benefit from the increased revenues from vat and fuel duty but also benefit from increased revenues from the oil in the North Sea Edited January 6, 2011 by Cuprabob

I imagine they forgotten this one now. Generally they run on time in the morning to pickup but end up 5-10 mins late by the time they've got to London Bridge, usually due to 'congestion', odd as the same trains run each day, not as if they run extra trains surely! The HS1 has it's purpose for me when I'm either out in the west end or going north, takes me 3 hours door to Manc as i miss out central London, saving me about an hour. Just a fiver or so top up on the season ticket at peak times, well worth it
Milo
The government will argue the additional fuel duty all goes towards the pot that is budget deficit reduction. Don't worry, as soon as we get the pesky deficit cleared in 2015, I'm sure they'll slash duty and fuel will again fall below £1/litre :D
NewNiceMrMe
It cost £82.98 to fill up the 6 yesterday, with normal unleaded at a Jet garage in Ashington. I don't know what price it was because I rarely look. I need the fuel because I wouldn't get far without it. When it gets over £75 I know fuel prices must be reasonably high but I don't really see what I can do about it and anything that anybody has ever tried has never worked - so I just get on with it and pay. aj84
Esso in Harrow is 131.9 for standard diesel yet Shell at hanger lane was 134.9 for optimax diesel... makes no sense but either way, I'm topping almost £110 every 1.5 weeks now for my 80 litres MrMe, agreed...it's one of those things you just have to keep biting the bullet as you can't do without it I'm sure people would do the same if we were charged for oxygen
