Hi all,

Just wondering what the feel is on a 3l 2003 A4 cab, lots of toys only down side is 110,000miles on the clock?

Would be getting the car to drive into the ground as my daily commute (30mile round trip), its also the CVT box??

Input very welcome before i shell out!

Thanks,

Iain

Wise move, A4 cabs are great but find yourself a nice manual one... or if you must have an auto get a quattro which has a proper auto tiptronic box.

+1

And don't worry about the mileage on the proper auto Tip box - if all OK, buy it and get the fluid changed ASAP (should be every 40K really, but not many bods know that)

Cvt's must must must be changed every 40k and even then they will need an updated clutch pack (approx £900) to fix juddering issue and even if that's done they may need a new gearbox ECU at some point. Mine's been meticulously serviced since day one (brand new) with ATF done using VCDS (to get proper temperature) every 40k and the filter too, and it still needed the clutch pack done at 130k. It's at 160k now and I'll probably have to do the ECU at some point. People slate the multitronic but in my eyes it's such an amazing gearbox it's worth it even when you do have to spend out. Kinda like owning an Alfa Romeo. I intend to run my A6 up to 300,000k if I can so don't mind spending a bit of money on it. As said though, the tips are better and in theory are sealed for life, although I would still get the fluid changed.

Hi all, thanks for the valued input. Went out this afternoon and got myself a 2003 3.0 Manual with only 100k on the clock, few toys, BOSE, PDC, Heated Seats. Looks like a sound car, just drove it back form London and nothing fell off (yet!) so finger crossed it will be sound.

OK, so just showing the guys at work and low and behold i can hear a noise from the engine. Lift the bonet and there is a slight very quiet tapping noise, now i know the cab belt, water pump, and clutch have all been done on the car (audi invoice to show) but i'm not sure i like it?? Any idea?

thanks guys, guess its always one of those things, you buy the car all on a high, then get home and start looking at all the little bits and bobs!

Rattle is audable with the bonnet shut, sounds almost like a small stone that just catches and bumps about!! Going to get a mechanic friend to have a quick listen!

Up date to that! Mechanic takes a look, spots nothing major or doesn't think it is? Then tells me the door window won't drop when opening, the PDC has an error, and the roof hydraulics have a leak in the 'presure sphere'....So car went back to the dealer and he promises me he's fixed the lot, his answer was:

PDC - replaced that as one sensor was faulty

Door windows thing - thats a micro switch, all changed

Roof issue - he claims it was a pipe, so he's filled it with fluid and changed the pipe (must say not sure about this)

Engine noise - some air pump for the V6 (anyone if thats true!!)

Well, picking up tomorrow so we'll see! Fingers crossed!!
