Soulboy
I need to get the g/f TT wheels refurbed as they have some kerb damage. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations - either from the nationals - or local type bod in Cheshire area. Thanks for any help
garcon magnifique
A very good independent visits Monks Heath Motors. Haven't got a direct number for him so you'd need to ask via service. Did mine and you'd honestly not tell which wheel it was. Heat repair and full recoat.

CarMad
Old thread resurrection but I've just been asked by a friend if I have any recommendations for wheel refurbs preferably in the south Manchester area. Anyone had any recent experience and are these guys still around?
garcon magnifique
Monks Heath no longer around and don't have a direct number for the guy mentioned above. So, as it happens, I'll echo carmad's request if I may! Anyone know a wheel refurbisher in Cheshire/North West who can do diamond cut alloys? Jez
The leeds branch of this company get good reviews and they have a Manchester location, might be worth a look; http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk Edited July 8, 2014 by Jez

I've had my wheels done there - bubbled after 13 months - no sir, no warranty after 12 months. Done again - same thing happened. We bought some wheels for my Mrs' car from a friend - refurbed at the wheel specialist in Leeds, too, and they are bubbled and corroded (none relating to kerbing). Tipex
Diamond cut finish is notoriously hard to refurb, and very hard to keep pristine too, personally i'd have them refurbed to a painted finish, but I understand why you wouldn't want too. I paid for mine to be done a second time there because I assumed it must have been down to other factors than the guys doing it. Alas, the second time and the other halves wheels have disproved that theory. I have just had mine done by elite wheels in Leeds - so we'll see how that goes. They were shocked at the state of the last refurb!
Tipex
They were shocked at the state of the last refurb! Same story with any trade really, they always slag off the last persons work, I wouldn't read anything in to that whatsoever, but judge them on the quality of their work rather than their ability to slag other peoples off! Maybe I should have written it better - they showed me the process they use and why they think the paint wasn't stripped far enough on the last refurb. They didn't slag them off - they gave their ideas as to why they've gone like that...

chasdrury
Well, I had them done 2 weeks ago. The finish is fantastic. Will report back on longevity. Although when I was there picking them up there was a chap who had his wheels done 2 years ago and there isn't a sign of any bubbling on them - he was in for them to fit new tyres because he doesn't trust anyone else with them!
