Mook
Er, try three :DBMW 3 litre six with three turbos - two normal and one electric driven... http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/tsn-motor-news/134700-you-want-more.html
m4ttm4son
In EVO I was reading that they are thinking of a six cylinder tri-turbo for the next M3. He also makes reference to bringing back four cylinder M cars too so maybe the next 1M? That would make this 1M with it's twin turbo six pot a future classic (if it weren't already). Tipex
I've been saying electric turbos are the future for years, despite the crapness of the eBay offerings so far, it was only a matter of time before they were developed properly. Biscuits
I absolutely love the BM inline six diesels... this just makes a great engine even better. I do however loath their current engine model numbering system. 30d = 3.0d single turbo 40d = 3.0d twin turbo... but was a 35d, which wasn't a 3.5l 50i = 4.4 twin turbo... but the previous 4.8 was badged 4.8... Mook
And now there's the 28 - a turbo 2 litre 4 - as in the 528d and 528. Merc are just as bad though
m4ttm4son
I posted that on here ages before you read it in EVO But I didn't read it when you posted it Stoopid number designations are because of branding history. Makes perfect sense to me.
Booster
Have many people on here had issues with BMW turbos blowing up?? Several of our clients have had problems. They have been sorted by BMW quickly and they have even paid for one that I know of that was out of warranty.
Mook
One mate with a 330d and one with a 335d and no problems for either. Both cars have done a lot of miles and neither has an easy life.

jimdiesel
What year? BMW carried out a recall for 2007–10 vehicles with the twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engines due to problems with the high-pressure fuel pumps. The high pressure fuel pumps along with noisy turbo wastegate actuators are known 35i (petrol) issues. A small number of 35d engines suffered from failed small turbo and leaking boost pipes.
