Well, got back last Fri and feel totally refreshed. +++

The place was amazing. The best hotel i have stayed in by far in terms of décor, facilities, views and the staff were amazingly helpful and couldn't do enough for you.

Booster - Are you staying in the Sani Beach Hotel or one of the other complexes on the resort? If your in the beach hotel then i suggest that you ask to be in the pool facing side in block B if you get an option. The other side faces the beach and you get to see the sun set over the sea. Pool side you have more to see and keep your eyes occupied with as you chill on the balcony.

There are 3 private beaches in the place and all are full of sunbeds and they have beach hut things providing towels etc. I think we must have gone when it was quite as it was out of the school holidays so there was never an issue finding a sub bed on the beach but if you want to get one by the poolside then get there early.

6 different restaurants to eat from keeps things fresh although the hotel buffet breakfast/evening meal has a very good diversity of food options. We were half board so when you go out to these restaurants you have $20 per adult and $10 per child allowance towards the meals on an evening or for lunch.

As it happens we also had a $150 credit given to us as part of he deal we got when booking so we used that on drinks with the meals.

If your buying food and drinks at the marina prepare to have your pants pulled down as it was $8.50 for a mozzarella cheese and rocket leaf pannini and $4.50 for a cup of tea.

I cant say much for the evening entertainment as we couldnt really go out with the little one who is 5 and was normally falling asleep by 9pm. In saying that you could hear the Sax player from our balcony overlooking the pool/resturant where he was playing a couple of evenings while we were there.

If your into your sports, take your gear with you as they have tennis, football, basketball courts. Also you can hire bikes out to ride about the complex which is a great as its all flat.

Dont know if you have young kids but the indoor pool is open for families only from 8am till 2pm which was good as its the first time my little one was introduced to swimming. At first she wouldnt dare go more than knee deep with arm bands and a inflatable ring but by the next day she was trying to swim with just armbands alone. +++

There is a small mini store thing in the marina complex where you can buy snax, drinks etc as well as a section for lotions, creams etc which we used a fair bit.

Will get some pics up later but as Waylander will vouch, some of the pics are really great and show the place off very well.

All in all the place looks better in the flesh than in the pics we saw before going and you will really enjoy it if you just want to chill out. Would deffo go back and would stick to 1 week as i think it was about the right amount of time out there to recharge the batteries.

p.s) a 1 meter shark was spotted in the swimming area off the beach which somehow managed to get past the nets. :o

Glad you had a great time and thanks for the write up!

All sounds brilliant apart from the shark!! :P

We are in the Beach Club and have a two room bungalow and I can't remember if these have a sea view or a private pool, it was one or the other.

Very good to hear a real life experience of the place+++

Sounds good, why is everything in $ or do you mean € ?

Baby shark would have been shitting itself, poor thing likely ended up on the BBQ.

Most of my Asian mates hate sun, a few have some issue with prickly heat and all the others swear by some expensive special for skin, block. They might as well go to Newcastle for all the rain, a beach holiday for them is a waste. How do you and yours cope. I have the nickname Solaro, something to do with always being in the sun and being sun blushed given the opportunity :)

You guys obviously enjoyed yourselves. I assume the place does AI, do you think you saved anything by taking the HB option.

We tend to have more than enough drinks and stuff to always tick AI and then the holiday budget- give a bit hear and there, is fixed.

Pictures would be nice, now we know when the 16 y.o. finishes her exams we can book earlier than the rest, target about four weeks.

Chris - The difference between AI and HB was about £700 for 2 adults and one child but as we are t-total and drinks is where most the cost seems to be it worked out better for us as HB.

I know a few Asians like that but not many and personally speaking i can get a tan within a few hours of decent sun in the UK so when im abroad i get tanned very quickly. I never used to burn but did used to get flaky dry skin but then i never used to use sun block. The block was more to prevent the harmful UV rays rather than stopping me from going dark(er).

The little one has a right tan on her even with being covered head to toe in block.

Booster - those units have a private pool and some face the beach which are ace. To be honest regardless of where you are in the resort the setup is really good and you can go anywhere you want to visit.

I will get some pics up later when i get home from work.

In the mean time here's a shoddy 360' photo attempt i did on my iphone.

Sani Marina - Photosynth +++

Sounds like an excellent place to go for a chill to unwind Fizz.

On a semi-serious point was the eating varied and nice?

I concur re HB vs AI (unless you go somewhere halal food is on tap)

I jst realised you said the little one was asleep so you didn't get to check out the evening entertainment - did the hotel put on shows etc?

What was there to see round and about outside the resort or during a week there was enough going on not to bother?

The sunblock thing is funny too. I never used to use it at all (wife gets burned badly as does son, daughter less so) but I got really bad sun burn in Sharm while snorkelling and Orlando was also pretty fierce so I respect the UV now +++

That picture is really funky on an iPad.

You have a headless child, a wife that wears a triangle black hat, and you are twenty foot tall, skinny and have very small arms

Yep not just an ipad issue - this is more to do with Fizz's photography skills I fear:p

Right... sorry for the delay but finally managed to get to use the PC while the wife is away with work.

Just a few pics from the collection... they really dont do the place justice though.

This pic is taken at the first restaurant away from the main hotel but its practically next to it. We dined outside under the canopies they have open... then you have this lounge bit with the sofas. Really nice setting to chill out on an evening.

This is the view from the restaurant area in the main Sani Beach hotel overlooking the pool.

One of my fav pics on one of the 3 beaches... this one is outside a set of small bungalow style flat things... might be where your staying booster maybe?

Walk way under the hotel to get to the long beach out the back of the complex...

Can't see any towels on those sunbeds....

Beach hut further up the way where they hand them out... as many as you want.

We went when the resort was quiet. ;)

Also the busy area was further up closer to the main hotel building you can see in the distance.

This place is ace!

Just got back from the pool (2hours ahead of the UK) so the kids can have a nap.

Food, staff, standard of accommodation all top notch.

The bar was quiet so the barman just went to all the people round the pool and cleaned eveyone's sunglasses! Wouldn't take a tip either!

One downside is that my son doesn't appear to be great with the heat and it is bloody hot!

Lots of mega fine waitresses in the restaurants. Wife keeps saying bet you like her and I keep saying yep!
