Mook
Nice! Don't Audi use a similar (not the same V angle) V6 in their cars, like for the S4 (except it's supercharged). Can't remember what the current S4 puts out
cruiser647
Current S4 is about 333 or something? Slightly less than the old V8 S4. It's about time someone came along with a nice engine instead of 4 cylinder things. Here's hoping it see the light of day in more than just top model stuff. I know, fat chance of that happening. Tipex
Nice to see something interesting from VW for once, at almost 500 Bhp I can't ever see them using it in anything VW though, what would they put it in? A 500 BHP golf would just be daft! It's a lot of weight forward of the front axle too, so I guess the old 'big engine in small car' understeer issues would raise their head again? Mook
Exactly. Over 300bhp per tonne in a Golf is just stupid :D There's a really good review of the Mk7 GTI in this month's EVO mag - mechanical (as opposed to faux with electronics) LSD and some other clever suspension trickery without going down the Revoknuckle route has worked wonders on it apparently to get rid of understeer. They'll still engineer in understeer to any released car though, I'd imagine. Better an understeering car to make you slow down than an oversteering one...
