Headset recommendations please

Master P is a keen PC gamer, and strongly prefers using a headset so that he can't be disturbed by anything outside the game, such as us shouting that dinner is ready, it's time to go, or it's bedtime, or anything like that.  Anyway, he has faithfully stuck to Creative headsets such as this one.

We are now on the third such headset, and it broke today.  The first one broke within six months but was replaced under warranty, the second was out of the original warranty when it broke about six months later, so (about six months ago... :coffee: ) I took pity on him and funded the replacement rather than make him use his pocket money.  I'm beginning to think they might be a bit flimsy.  To give him credit where it's due, he is pretty careful with his stuff so I don't particularly think he is abusing them - but even if he is then that suggests we need something that's a bit harder to break.

Can anyone recommend a headset that does the same as the Creative one but is more robust?  I'm happy to pay a bit more for a quality item...

Yes, I was about to say not to touch Turtle Beach with a bargepole.

I bought a set for £80 about 2 years ago and they're still sat in the box upstairs waiting to go back (hmmm, probably a bit late now. :roflmao:).

I could never get them to work and then about a month after giving in I read all manner of complaints about them online.  That prompted me to box them up and take them back.

I forgot.

Until now.  :roflmao:

I have no experience of gaming headsets myself, as I rarely play on-line anyway, and if I do, the last thing I want is to be sworn at by a ten year old on the other side of the planet.

But I'd suggest avoiding anything that is either a 'cool' or fashionable brand, or anything made by a gaming accessories manufacturer such as Mad Katz, or Creative.

I'd either go for a brand name such as Sony, or someone that has experience of headphones in general such as Senheiser, or Plantronic.
