cabby
Off to NYC for the wife's 40th shortly and struggling to pick a hotel. Want something decent and have a budget of circa £300/night and want to be quite central so Times Square / Midtown. A nice (not pretentious) bar would be good also. The Intercontinental and Loews Regency appeal. Any suggestions or recommendations? Anyone working for the Mandarin Oriental that can offer a 75% also welcome to get in touch . TP27
We stay at the Algonquin Hotel - no mod cons at all but location is A1 and their world renowned Jazz Club is in the Basement - it makes for quite a NYC experience. Others may offer up more "plush" suggestions.
Chick
I stayed at the Intercontinental Barclay quite a few years ago and it was very nice but the rooms were smaller than you expect for the US. I've always like the look of the Millennium Broadway hotel, well located and last time I checked it seemed reasonably priced. I'm sure someone will be along soon with proper recommendations but have an absolute blast, I want to go back
Cuprabob
Again, a few years back, I stayed on two occasions at the Metropolitan Hotel on the corner of 51st and Lexington Ave just a few blocks fron the Chrysler Building. A quick google tells me it's been recently refurbed and now owned by Hilton. Certainly worth a look. Edited July 13, 2014 by Cuprabob
Luke
Stayed here https://www.morganshotelgroup.com/hudson/hudson-new-york Very cool and hip. The only hotel room where you can lay on the bed, sit on the loo and have a shower all at the same time!

cabby
We like the New York Palace. Looks so nice . . . . I just booked it . Think I saw it when looking last week - just so many to choose from in NYC.

bells0
Not been for 5 years, but stayed at Le Parker Meridien 3 times. If you can get a room overlooking Central Park it's rather nice. Cool bar and restaurant [breakfast was out of this World!] and the pool is right up top, so some awesome views.
