On a more serious note, how did you acheive that MPG?! I have a 1.6tdi VW and although used 90% on short trips I'm lucky to get 45mpg.

Dodgy SA fuel.

A very light foot when coasting/on a flat, just to keep the speed steady.  Looking ahead and only braking when needed, anything stopping ahead and you roll/coast up to it instead of braking at the last minute.

Just stuff like that I suppose.*

* - no air con, no heating, no radio, no lights, etc etc..  :roflmao:

Sadly there is some truth to that. The low RON of the fuel here combined with the high temperatures mean that the likes of the Audi S3 / VW Golf R are detuned by VW by around 35bhp and many of the high stressed diesel engines such as the BMW 25d's aren't sold.

Did I mention I have an A1?

To be fair the 80mpg was a optimistic, as I was just tapping the go pedal. I worked out the real Mpg is more 60 going by I only used a tank of fuel, still not bad for 2.0tdi. But music loud, aircon on on to keep me awake, plus it was 5am so lights were on, oh and I was charging my online too.

You have just spoilt your copy book.

You could have had a job as EU 'official' MPG tester.
